Bottle Cove

One of our favourite drives in Newfoundland is the winding road out from Corner Brook along the south side of Humber Arm to Bottle Cove. Captain Cook explored this area back in the 1760's....

We came across a boat there, so Rex and Bianca could explore it as well....

...and like usual, it was very windy....

They really do look like they're aboard a large ship. You have some great photos to put together a wonderful adventure story for them!

There was a 'ship-like' seat along one of the trails out to the lookout. Jan came across it, since he took a different route out than I did. On the way back to the RV he said I needed to come look at it, since it looked suitable for doll photos to him. It did work well, but could have used some more 'rigging'.

It's always a pain dealing with bright sunshine, but in this situation it was a bonus, since that big white area behind them in the last photo was actually a map of the cove with all the trails on it. But the sun blew it out nicely.

These photos of Rex and Bianca have really been too gorgeous. I’ve loved every single shot you’ve posted, including those taken by Jan. Tell him we’ve enjoyed seeing his photography skills in action too!

I also want to say that I love seeing Bianca’s hair flying loose in the wind. It gives an extra depth of realism to the pictures, reminding us all that the dolls were actually there when the pictures were taken. She always looks so dramtic too with her hair caught up in the wind, like she’s about to go on a long and fabulous journey. ;)

Thank you! I'm glad you have enjoyed them. I was really pleased with how so many of the photos turned out. There's still lots more to come. I didn't realize at the time just how many I'd taken.

That hair of her's was a constant pain. I tried tying it back a few times but it just looked wrong. So, mostly I just had to pay attention to which direction the wind was blowing from, and make her face into it. Which wasn't always possible.

What great photos. It absolutely looks like they are on a boat. In fact, I had to read the narrative a second time to learn that they were not.

My favorite photo is the one in which they are looking out to sea(?) with their hands just touching. How sweet.

Well, it was sort of a 'boat', or least meant to represent one. Definitely easier that trying to take photos in a real on in water.
