Bike to Work

5/21/2021

May 21st is National Bike to Work Day, and I spotted Owen doing just that. He had his tool box and lunch, and was wearing his safety vest. Unfortunately biking in the city meant a lot of stopping and waiting for traffic lights....

Good for Owen for helping to save the planet by biking. I love the vest.

I figured he needed one of those safety vests so cars would see him.

These are great shots! I always love all your attention to the little details that make your photos so realistic.

Two questions for you. Where Is Owen? The background is interesting. His Canadian Tire toolbox is great. Is it something you bought or did you make it? (Ooops, I guess that's three questions).

I wanted some kind of 'city' scene, so we drove around town looking for a suitable raised spot to take his photo, and ended up at the Pickering Civic Centre, where there's raised flower beds. That 'tool box' came with a gift card from Canadian Tire once.

When I was taking photos, and old gentleman came by and commented that he liked what I was doing. He asked if I'd bought the figure at Canadian Tire. Yeah, right?!?! I just politely told him Owen was a special doll that came from Korea.

After I made that vest all kinds of other uses for it popped into my head. I may just have to make a couple more so I can have a construction crew.

Oh, that would be fun! I know I have seen all sorts of tiny drains in the sidewalk and such that would be great doll-sized manholes, trenches, etc. My FB feed had pics again today of a work crew rescuing baby ducks that had slipped under a grating into a drain, with the mother duck standing nearby quite frantic.

My problem is that making one new item for a specific photo - like that vest - leads to a lot of new ideas, and I as much as they'd make great photos, there's just too many to do, and everything takes time, and then I can never get to the sewing projects that I really want to do.
