Behind the Scenes

2/11/2021

With the Christmas Story behind us, it's time to share all the 'behind the scenes' photos and stories.   I decided to put everything together into one big album......the Making of A Christmas Story

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Thanks for capturing these photos.

Well, I know what I will be doing on this snowy day here in the US.

It is so good to see Jan.

I knew you'd be pleased, and there's LOTS of behind the scenes shots.

Could you send some of that snow up here? I've been waiting over six weeks for some. We are supposed to be the 'Great White North' after all.

I wondered how long it took to do this project. Actually, considering all the things you made it wasn't long at all! You're much more intrepid than I am about taking photos by leaps and bounds. Although I do enjoy setting up indoor shots with various props and things. I bought studio lights and that really opens up the possibilities for indoor shots as it's very often quite gray and not a lot of light during the winter here. Anyway, I have really enjoyed your Christmas story so very much! And the behind the scenes shots are an added bonus! You and Jan are a good team!!!

Thanks. Considering we are stuck at home and not supposed to go anywhere, it wasn't that bad. It's not like I had other stuff to do.

Studio lights are a great investment, although they come with their own issues. Like having the dolls lit up to brightly for the background. I have filters over the front of my light, and keep it nice and far away from my dolls.

My studio lights are dimmable! So I can easily control any glare. They're LEDs too. So I don't even feel guilty leaving them on for long stretches if necessary.

That's great. It's just that I've seen so many photos where people take a photo of a doll, all bright and shiny under indoor studio lights, and then photoshop it into a dull overcast background, where it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Thank you to you and your amazing assistant. The story is very cute and your photos are absolutely stunning. I'm sure, the Making of only shows a hint of your work behind the scene and that's allready so much.

It never shows the hours spent at the computer processing photos, and putting the stories online.
