Thought I'd share photos of the setting up of the dining hall in my dining room. First the bare bones walls and furniture. I put the most period appropriate seats in the front where they'd be see. The ones in the back will be hidden by the dolls, so don't matter... Then with wall hangings.... Then I covered the two tables with one long board.... The scene as currently set up... When I wanted to take a photo of David's end, the pink wall and white doorframe beyond the 'stone wall' looked unsightly, so Jan rotated the carpet some, so the wooden cabinet on that wall would fill in the background instead.... Everyone is still sitting there just waiting until I get back to the story.

I love these behind the scene posts. Seeing the tableau come together step-by-step is truly inspiring. Kudos to Jan for moving the carpet without jostling any of the dolls or props atop the table. If it were me, I would have ended up with a complete and utter disaster. That's assuming I could even move it. Your table looks like it would be very heavy even without all the added weight on it.

Thankfully the table is sitting in the middle of an area rug, so even though it is definitely very heavy, it's not too bad to turn. He just pulls the carpet round.

I never even noticed your own furniture in the background, although I suppose I would have if you'd left the pink wall. I had to be careful to keep my doll room's bright green walls, a remnant of my daughter's teenage years, out of photos. Your attention to detail is impressive.
