Back to the Celtic Maidens

Well, I ran out of things to delay getting back to the two Celtic costumes - the lampshade is done and gone, and I made slips for all three little Renaissance outfits. Of course, my house is due to go "upside down" again today, as the second stage of installing a new kitchen floor begins, so I'm sure I'll end up having to help with that, which means less time for doll work for the next while.

I'm working on knitting the second sleeve for the second outfit.  I'm finding the Coats brand silver crochet thread much better to knit with than the Aunt Lydia's that I used to use. With Aunt Lydia's the knit sleeves always were distorted, and the underarm seam would end up twisting right around the whole arm from top to bottom - even if I tried pressing and blocking first.  I always thought it was because of the metallic silver thread wrapped around the cotton core, and that the sleeve warped in the direction the metallic thread was wrapped, but the Coats has that too, and the sleeves are turning out nice and straight. Makes perfect sense that I've finally discovered the best crochet thread for the knit sleeves now that I've decided to end the Celtic Maiden series!!  Isn't that always the way?   The best sleeves will be on the last outfit.

I'm waiting - and hoping - for a nice, dry, not-too-cold, non-rainy, bright but cloudy, day so I can take some doll photos in the blue scillas. That's the very frustrating thing about outdoor photography - waiting for plants to bloom, and then needing conducive lighting conditions. Bright sunshine with umbrellas for shade just won't cut it. And I'm also not keen on sitting on a soaking wet ground, or risking my dolls getting rained on.

On another note, Iplehouse has released some teaser pictures of the body for their new line - the PID, or Pixie Iplehouse Dolls. They are supposed to be less than 20 cm tall, and definitely have a fantasy edge, with a "distorted mature" body shape. The shoes in the photo are their JID Canvas Sneakers, which are about 6 cm long, so those bodies must be very tiny. I'm very curious to see what the face sculpts look like, and how they dress them in their promo photos.
