I'm back to working on 'Christine' again. Things are going very slowly as I often don't feel very well. Her main skirt has been sewn, lined, and trimmed with heavy decorative fringes and trims. The main fringe I bought a year and a half ago has heavy blue undertones - I guess because the old M&M Christine had a black and red bodice, so the blue worked well on her costume, and I just bought the same trims again for these new costumes. But the new Christine's bodice is green and red like the actual stage costume, so I need to try add some green and downplay the blue. Hopefully some green beads will help. I'm also working on the second set of decorative shawls for Christine. The first set didn't turn out as I had hoped, even though they looked pretty good after applying the fabric paint. But when I washed them to remove the excess colour so it wouldn't rub off on a doll, a little too much colour washed out. The second set is being built on an existing red, yellow and green scarf. It also needed fabric paint added for more stripes, but this time after heat-setting, I'm going to wait awhile before washing. Hopefully the added colour will be more permanent this time.
I'm a completely random stranger, I know, but having stumbled on your blog accidentally only a few weeks ago, I'd like to thank you for it! I'm a doll dressmaker/customiser myself, and seeing all your lovely tutorials and information is just inspiring, and it's extremely generous of spirit on your part. I've actually made a renaissance-style coat for a Moxie teenz doll based on (but not plagiarised from!) your beautiful medieval gowns and coats. "Lovely in Lavender" is I think my favourite, but I have so many favourites it's not true. Comments are closed.
