From 2011, when I had only two small dolls - Cinnamon and Elin.....
Today is St. Nicholas Day, and I just wanted to share some of my favourite photos from the past... From 2011, when I had only two small dolls - Cinnamon and Elin..... And from 2014, from the story 'A Visit from St. Nicholas'....
A lot of families and kids had come though, and it was finally Erzulie's family's turn.... But Elin thought Santa could use a little break. So she brought him a nice warm cup of coffee and a cupcake...,.
Jan started making a fireplace for my dolls, before all this surgery stuff hit the fan. He's continued to work on it, even though my photo plans are all up in the air right now. He made imitation 'brick', by sawing indents into a pine board, which I then sponge-painted to look more like brick. Next step is to touch up the wood stain on the surround, then varnish it, and paint the 'wall' above. I've picked up two nice picture frames at Value Village in the last few weeks, and think they will work nicely for artwork for on the wall above the mantle. There's a 4x6" fancy gold frame.... ...and a super fancy 5x7" vertical frame.... I'm thinking that each house that uses this fireplace will need it's own artwork above the mantle, and that that artwork will be in keeping with the theme of that particular room - whether it be a rustic cabin, a fireplace in a contemporary home, or in a period room setting.
Of course, I'm starting out by making a wreath to go up there for Christmas. The stress levels keep rising as Friday gets closer. I had my Pre-Op appointments at the hospital this morning, and am cleared to go. I was most concerned about my irregular heartbeat, and what that would mean for surgery, but they did an ECG, and both the anesthesiologist and a specialist said my kind of arrhythmia isn't a problem. Which made me feel a lot better about the whole thing.
I actually started thinking about 'next week', and even bought a lovely indian scarf at Value Village on Senior's day today. I'm actually starting to think about "life after surgery" now. So.....three more days to go....... Then it was Bonnie's turn.... "I really like your nice red shoes!" "They are brand new. My Daddy bought them for me."
Next in line were Bonnie and Chloe. Paige had taken them to the mall to have their photos taken with Santa, as a surprise for their parents..... "And, who's this little fellow??" "He is Geoffrey. He's my very best-est friend....." "Santa even gave Geoffrey a candy cane!"
Next in line was Holly & Coco's family. Milo wasn't with them, as he'd decided he was too old for a picture with Santa...
As they were leaving, Cinnamon spotted an unattended basket of candy canes, and decided she wanted more than just the ONE she had been given.....so she grabbed a big handful.... Talyssa was so embarrassed..... ....while Tillie tried to talk Cinnamon out of it... Peach grabbed Cinnamons hand to drag her away.... Santa started looking for her name on his gift list..... "Hey, what are you doing??" "I'm circling your name and marking you as 'potentially naughty', so I know to keep an eye on you, and if things don't improve, you won't be getting anything from me for Christmas." Cinnamon was heartbroken.... Peach hugged her close, "He said 'if things don't improve'.
Which means you still have three weeks to show him that you are a good little girl." Cinnamon ran up to Santa, and climbed up on his lap, to whisper in his ear..... He listened intently to what she was hoping he would bring her..... Then the three of them posed for their portrait with Santa.... And Talyssa asked to have one taken by herself...
