Rachel wanted her ballerina to sit beside the tree..... Then everyone gathered round while I lit the candles.....

On Saturday mornings, when the granddaugthers come over, it's always a fun challenge to come up with some kind of scene with the dolls and toys they bring along. Teagan had one of her Mom's dolls, who was dressed for outdoors. Rachel had her doll in a ballerina outfit, and she brought along a pink kitty. Natalya brought a llama. And I had been working on improving a sleigh I found at Value Village last week. So I came up with an idea.... and the girls helped stuff the sacks for the sleigh, and helped fill it with presents..... then we took everything outside.... Rachel, whose favourite colour is Green right now, insisted the green gift be near her kitty.... Natalya's llama did an admirable job stepping in for a horse, or reindeer.....
Things being what they are, we still haven't been able to deliver the little gingerbread village.
So that meant more opportunities for more photos......with the Mice this time.... A few more photos from the Gingerbread Village photo shoot the other day....
Winston had tried to make a gingerbread self-portrait. The tiny horn for it's nose had disapeared, so he gave it a red 'Rudolph' nose instead. The house is all decorated for Christmas... We decorated the tree.... ....with our collection of glass ornaments... But, the Christmas spirit has gone. What little I did have has evaporated. My Mom lies dying.
She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's eleven years ago, and it's been a heartbreaking journey. Now the end is finally in sight, and she can pass at any time. Likely within the week. So we wait, and try to go on in the meantime. My Mom from a happier time, before Alzheimer's stole her away... It was one of our daughter-in-law's birthdays recently, and our gift was for them to come over and make something out of gingerbread. She wanted to make an entire village with many small houses, so that's what we did. The icing hadn't dried enough when the two of them went home, so the village stayed here, and I was able to take pictures the next day.....
Isis and two younger fairies, out in the first snow of winter, with their friends, the chickadees....
My two new KIDs arrived this morning, and what a contrast! Most of the time I order my dolls in special real skin, but this time I went to both ends of the spectrum. Paige is Normal resin, which looks especially pale beside Angela's light brown resin. It's always exciting getting new dolls, but when they come blank there is always the additional wait for a faceup before they truly take on their personality. I had thought Paige would be a 'blonde' but it's too soon to say right now. None of my blonde wigs are working right now. I love Angela! I don't think I've ever seen an Angela ever since her sculpt was released, but I've always thought she would be great in light brown as an older sister to my two Light Brown BIDs. And she is! She looks so much like both of them.
Well, now to plan some clothes for them so it's ready for whenever they get painted. Fairies don't actually need footwear, but we had our first major snowfall and they insisted,
so I obliged.......and of course they had to show the boots to their friends..... |
