Abbey Road

7/10/2018

The 8th prompt in Daisy Dayes' photo challenge, was to create or recreate a CD or album cover, with extra points if it was the Beetles Abbey Road. So, this is what I needed to recreate....
Picture
So we drove around town looking for a street that had somewhat similar vibes. It had to be a road that was coming off the side of another, because I needed a view down the centre of the road, so needed a wide open view from the opposite side.

I made a 'sidewalk crossing' out of black and white paper, which i inserted four doll stands through, and attached to a wide board, which would be supported up on my old slide projector stand.

It was a very hot morning, and we packed everything into the car, and headed down to the marina at the foot of Liverpool first, to shoot the 'Dolls in a Shoe' boat scene. Then back around the mall to the foot of Valleyfarm Road. There was a utility building with a small driveway opposite, on the other side of the intersection. We hauled out the projector stand, and my 'cross-walk' and I set up the dolls, with Ringo in second spot where he was on the actual album cover.

And then, by total chance, a white car pulled up to the intersection, in the same position as the white bug on the album cover..... so I shot quickly.....

...and created my album cover....

We quickly packed up and left. Then Jan said we should have taken a 'behind the scenes' shot of our set-up.  Yes, we should have. But in 'public' I don't think clearly, and it was terribly hot. So, too late.  Maybe I'll remember next time.

Entry #7

The next photo prompt was "Nose to nose, profile shot", with extra points if it included a pet or human. Well, I don't have any pets, and didn't feel like doing the other, so went for something basic, and hauled Tedros and Carina out of the display case....

Dolls in a Shoe

7/9/2018

The sixth photo prompt was "Doll(s) in a Shoe".  I thought I'd be original and turn an old wooden shoe into a boat for some of my little Forest Dwellers to go sailing in.

It was a very hot morning, as Eric checked the sails before they could go out on Frenchmen's Bay....

Entry #3

7/9/2018

The third prompt in the photo contest was 'the Kissing Booth'.  My first thought was that I didn't have any 'kissy' dolls, so the next best thing was to go in the opposite direction...
Picture
Poor Ringo.  He made a Kissing Booth out of a big appliance box, but no one other than the neighbourhood dogs showed any interest....
Picture
Some of his friends came by, and they felt rather sorry for him. He seemed so deflated.
"One of us better go over there and give him a kiss, so he feels better."
Picture
"You go first!"   "No, you!"

My Workspace

7/8/2018

I needed a picture of my workspace, and since it had to be posted somewhere to link to, I figured why not here?  It's just an armchair with a small table, and my sewing machine tucked in the corner behind. All just in my living room.....

1. Favourite Book

7/7/2018

The Resin Cafe is holding an online Virtual Doll Convention this weekend, and one of the games is a photo contest organized by Daisy Dayes. She posted a list of ten photo ideas two weeks ago, and participants were challenged to take doll photos of as many as they could....

The first prompt was 'My Favourite Book', with extra points for depicting a scene from the book.

This was my entry....

Behind the Scene

7/6/2018

A look at my patio table set up for the Forest Dweller Party. I like using the patio table, since it's a great height to sit at to set up. Much easier than on the ground!
Picture
I always place 'hanging baskets' of small flowers onto overturned pails on the back benches, to create a somewhat in-scale 'garden' background. In spring I purchase plants with smaller flowers specially to use as photo backgrounds.

The violas were fantastic for a while, but I know they don't last an entire summer, and they have seen a better day now (but were still nice in the photo above) so there's four other hanging baskets with small flowers waiting to be used now.

The photo taken of the scene above....taken with my tele-photo lens from the far end of the patio, since I hadn't figured out what was wrong with my 'testy' regular lens at that time.

Family Photo

7/4/2018

Everyone was looking at the photo....
Picture
"Who are those people?"
Picture
"That's me!
It's your Grandma and Grandpa, with me and Owen, and our sister, when we were little."
Picture
"Well, maybe we should hang it up?"
Picture
So he took down the painting above the fireplace, and hung up the photo instead....
Picture
"Does this look straight??"
Picture
"Yes, that's perfect!"
