Abbey Road

The 8th prompt in Daisy Dayes' photo challenge, was to create or recreate a CD or album cover, with extra points if it was the Beetles Abbey Road. So, this is what I needed to recreate....

So we drove around town looking for a street that had somewhat similar vibes. It had to be a road that was coming off the side of another, because I needed a view down the centre of the road, so needed a wide open view from the opposite side.

I made a 'sidewalk crossing' out of black and white paper, which i inserted four doll stands through, and attached to a wide board, which would be supported up on my old slide projector stand.

It was a very hot morning, and we packed everything into the car, and headed down to the marina at the foot of Liverpool first, to shoot the 'Dolls in a Shoe' boat scene. Then back around the mall to the foot of Valleyfarm Road. There was a utility building with a small driveway opposite, on the other side of the intersection. We hauled out the projector stand, and my 'cross-walk' and I set up the dolls, with Ringo in second spot where he was on the actual album cover.

And then, by total chance, a white car pulled up to the intersection, in the same position as the white bug on the album cover..... so I shot quickly.....

...and created my album cover....

We quickly packed up and left. Then Jan said we should have taken a 'behind the scenes' shot of our set-up.  Yes, we should have. But in 'public' I don't think clearly, and it was terribly hot. So, too late.  Maybe I'll remember next time.

Oh my goodness, this is outstanding! I love that your Ringo was in the photo. And the street you shot on was Liverpool. Isn't that were some of the Beetles were from?

The street in the background is Valleyfarm. Liverpool is one street over, and it goes down to the lake and the marina. I had considered using it for my background too, since it also had a dead end at the lake to shot north from, but it didn't have the right feel to it. Plus there were lots of people, and I don't like being that obvious in public.
