After all the little ones had hatched, Saphira took them all up onto the bed with her... ...so Winston and Willie could clean up the nest and all the egg shells... "These are a lot lighter with nothing in them." Winston found it hard to keep his mind on the task at hand... He was constantly distracted.... ...and kept looking over at the little ones... ....and his heart filled with love... ...as he realized, all those cute little baby dragons were HIS children... ..and that he was their Dad.
Everyone was watching the last egg, waiting for it to hatch... "This one is certainly taking its time." "It looks like the shell is starting to crack... ...and then suddenly there he was.... Another little boy...."Papa!" "Mama!" He looked around at his siblings.... And their family was complete.
Meanwhile, back at their lair, Willie was busy knitting and watching the dragon eggs... The eggs seemed to be getting a lot harder to turn over... Then in the middle of her knitting, she suddenly heard the cracking of an egg.... One of the babies had hatched! "Mama??" Right at that very moment, Winston came in, returning from dinner.... "Papa??" "Why, hello there! Yes, I'm your Father." Saphira came in just in time to witness the second baby hatch, and lifted him and her daughter out of the nest.... ..just as the third baby emerged. It was another little girl. "Mama?" "Yes sweetie." "I'm your Mom, and these are your brother and sister."
Winston and Saphira were having a wonderful time together... "This has been really nice, and I'm having a wonderful time, but I have a feeling that we really need to go back home." "And if it's still okay, and our eggs haven't started hatching yet, then I'll make us a nice dinner." "That sounds great. I'd love that!" So after checking in with Willie, they flew to the King's castle, where Winston had kitchen privileges, and he put together a lovely meal... "This has been a nice little break." "It sure has." "But I suspect we won't be able to do this again for a while." "So, lets drink a toast to us..." "To having found each other..." "..and to starting a family." "A toast to parenthood, and the start of a whole new adventure!"
Willie was back at the dragon lair, egg-sitting again. She had offered to watch their eggs, so Winston and Saphira could take a little holiday together for a day of two, before their little ones hatched. She brought along some more knitting to work on. She was content to just spend the day knitting and turning the eggs... It wasn't getting any easier to turn the eggs, and she noticed that the sounds coming from inside seemed to be getting louder, and the eggs were moving a bit more. The baby dragons could hatch any day now. Meanwhile, Winston & Saphira were enjoying being out together. Winter had melted into Spring, and flowers were blooming everywhere. They went exploring, just enjoying the lovely warmer weather...
Alone in their apartment, Naomi decided to show Baron the new dress she had made while he was away. "My other dresses are getting too tight, so I made myself a new one. What do you think?" "It's beautiful." "You are so beautiful." "..and you are going to be an amazing mother." Baron enjoyed looking at the things Naomi had made for their baby... It made the prospect of becoming a father all that much more real. They were both looking forward to the arrival of their baby. Naomi felt the baby kick, and took Baron's hand... "Do you feel that?" "That's our baby."
It was a few days later, and Saphira had returned and offered to watch the eggs so Winston and Willie could go visit Baron, and see how he was doing. They sat down with Baron, while Naomi served tea. "You're looking a lot better than the last time I saw you." "How are you feeling?" asked Willie. "Not bad. I find it's getting better every day..." "Especially now that I'm home." "And how is everything with you?" "Have your little ones hatched yet?" "No not yet. But they can hatch at any time now." "Willie has offered to come and egg-sit again for a few days." "Yes. I figure it's probably Winston and Saphira's last chance to have some quality alone time together." "Once their little ones hatch, they are going to be super busy, and they won't have a spare moment for themselves." "That's really thoughtful and kind of you." "Yes. So Saphira is watching our eggs right now, and as soon as Willie and I get back after visiting with you, we'll be leaving right away." "We will only be gone a few days." "Because we don't want to risk the children hatching while we are away." "No, that would not be good. I don't know if I could handle four baby dragons all by myself."
