Took some photos today of Christine's completed slave girl costume before the over-skirt goes on. I was going to make a brand new wig for her, but maybe with a few adjustments - like curling the bangs - it might just be okay. I haven't really 'played' with Rosy much, as this is the very first costume I'm making specifically for her. It's amazing how nice a body she has, and how well she holds a pose. I'm not fond of her ankle joint, but the rest of her is perfect! I've decided to add "Christine, a Creative Journey" to my Tutorials page. It won't be the standard type of tutorial, in that it won't have patterns to download, but in it I will share many of my costume-making tips and techniques, and how I went about creating my 'Christine' costume.

I'm back to working on 'Christine' again. Things are going very slowly as I often don't feel very well. Her main skirt has been sewn, lined, and trimmed with heavy decorative fringes and trims. The main fringe I bought a year and a half ago has heavy blue undertones - I guess because the old M&M Christine had a black and red bodice, so the blue worked well on her costume, and I just bought the same trims again for these new costumes. But the new Christine's bodice is green and red like the actual stage costume, so I need to try add some green and downplay the blue. Hopefully some green beads will help. I'm also working on the second set of decorative shawls for Christine. The first set didn't turn out as I had hoped, even though they looked pretty good after applying the fabric paint. But when I washed them to remove the excess colour so it wouldn't rub off on a doll, a little too much colour washed out. The second set is being built on an existing red, yellow and green scarf. It also needed fabric paint added for more stripes, but this time after heat-setting, I'm going to wait awhile before washing. Hopefully the added colour will be more permanent this time.
Woke to a fresh blanket of snow on everything, so decided to take advantage of the opportunity and take Tedros out for some picture-time. He's just so photogenic I'm going to have to make a whole Favourite Photos page for all the great shots! Click on photo below to see the rest.
The last two weeks my doll clothes have taken a back-seat to my holiday photos from last October. It was high time to get them done and posted. Well, I finally finished them! They are not yet linked into my other website but you can see them by clicking "New England Trip"
Here's a few more of my favourites, which I haven't already shown back in October..... Layla is disappointed her Valentine roses have already drooped and faded.
They were such a pretty colour. Oh well, it's the thought that counts. Little Elin is wishing everyone a special day! I've been a bit sidetracked this week, what with taking Valentine's photos, and a quicky dress request. Plus, I finally decided it was high time to tackle my holiday photos from last October. I'm over halfway through already, and need to keep at it before my motivation fades.
Took some photos of my littlest girls having a Valentine's Tea Party this morning. I thought this was a cute shot..... ...the chocolates look so yummy, but they'll probably take just one bite and
decide they don't like the filling.......... "Where's the doggie?" *To see the whole photo story click 'Valentine Chocolates' I gathered a flower bouquet and changed Aeran's flowers in her hair, then took her outside for some Valentine photos in the freshly-fallen snow. Some light pink shading to warm up and soften the harsh, cold white of the sub-zero snow, and Aeran becomes a Valentine Fairy.
The 'slave-girl' skirts are now sewn onto the bodices. Each 'skirt' had almost 100 ribbons, each ribbon needing to be hand-basted onto the bodice. It's interesting that the camera seems to change the actual colours of the ribbons. In real life the reds are not pinkish, and all the colours are darker than in the photo. Next step is the eyelets, which I'm not fond of inserting, especially when the outfit has been this much work. My goal for today is to finish the 'slave-girl' dresses complete with the off-the-shoulder beading. Next week I'll tackle the removable over-skirts.
