Another Blizzard

2/27/2019

Well, today we have yet another snowstorm. Seems we have one every Wednesday this February. And once again all the school buses were cancelled, but schools remained open, so anyone living within walking distance still had to go.   Like Aaron and Angela....

I took lots of photos knowing there'd be snowflakes in their faces in many of them....

They don't mind going to school on a snow day. There's hardly anyone there then, so they get to do lots of fun, out-of-the-ordinary stuff....

...so off they went....

LOL Thanks! I wanted to try take some pictures in a blizzard. Not exactly the most variety here, since it was -12C and windy out there too, and my hands can't take the cold at all - can't operate my camera with mitts on.

What dedication to school. They look a bit cold.
Is that really a rule? Only the kids who live close have to go to school?

When the school buses get cancelled, but schools are still open, kids who live near enough to walk don't get a break, and all the rest either have to have someone drive them, or they get to stay home. But if it's too bad for buses, it's usually not a good idea for parents to drive them, so most get the day off.

We don't have that here in public school. School is either open or closed. If the nearby kids heard that the distance kids didn't have to go to school, they wouldn't go either (laugh).
It was like your way when my daughter was in private school. She went to a boarding school/day school. She was a day student. The school rarely closed because most of the students were there. Some of the teachers lived on the grounds also. They don't anymore though.
When I was in elementary schools, we had to walk to school and then home for lunch because the school did not have a cafeteria or a lunch room. I lived about 15 minutes away. I always made it back. Nowadays, if you allow kids to go home for lunch, you will not see them again until the next day. Times have really changed.
