March 20 was National Quilting Day, and Leona had taken out the vintage quilt that had been lingering in the linen closet for years. It was in rough shape and could use some repairs. Holly came in to see what her Mom was doing... "What's this? It looks really old." "It's an old quilt." "Your Dad's grandmother made it almost a hundred years ago." "It sure looks messy, and nothing like the quilts you make." "Well, in his grandmother's day they didn't have all the nice fabrics we have today." "In fact fabric was hard to come by, so quilts were usually made from sewing scraps and old clothes." "Well, they sure must have worn some colourful clothes back then."

Crazy quilts are so interesting! Leona is fortunate to have one in the family. It's nice to see Holly taking an interest in this very special quilt that represents a piece of her family history.

Thanks. I took this photo along with quite a few other new Special Days Photos in March, to be included in the Spring Special Days book we are currently working on. However with the stories and other things that came up, posting the Special Days photos on my Blog kept getting postponed. So there's lots more coming. But better late than never.

It's definitely a 'crazy quilt'. LOL. I needed a 'quilt' for the National Quilting Day photos, and of course don't actually have one in my extensive collection of props. Then I thought of my Storyteller's coat. I made it decades ago out of hundreds of tiny bits and pieces, all stitched together, first into a quilt, and then that was made into a coat. It had the perfect look I was going for.

I love seeing the coat/quilt. I also love seeing the fabric folded in the cabinet. Comments are closed.
