The main reason we went away, was to attend part of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico. The Fiesta lasts nine days, but we were there for the Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
The weather conditions were perfect on the Wednesday morning. Hot air balloons would rise quickly to the south, then as they rose higher, the wind was blowing to the north, so they'd come floating back overhead. One of our favourite things about the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, is that spectators are allowed on the field right up around the balloons as they are inflating. Hundreds of hot air balloons go up over a two-hour period, and it's often challenging to even know where to look, as they are everywhere.
Having brought only Fantasy characters along, my dolls couldn't attend, and it was rather relaxing not having to look for doll photo opportunities.
