Alberta

After two days of flat Prairies, we are more than ready to see the mountains, but the Rockies don't come into view until we are within 100 kms of them. So, with the mountain silhouettes finally in view, I decided it was our last chance to let the dolls see a wheat field up close. The wheat had already been harvested, leaving fields of short stubble - the perfect height for my dolls.

"Are those the mountains over there?", asks Coco, pointing to the west.

"Yes, they are! Let's get back in the RV. We are almost there."

Half an hour later, we were in Waterton Lakes National Park.

In southern Alberta there are no foothills, but the mountains rise directly out of the Prairies.
We booked a campsite and went down to the Lake to get a clearer view of the mountains....

The 'beach' was all rocks, and it was very windy. Waterton Lakes has a reputation for being
an extremely windy place. The end of the lake is in Glacier National Park in Montana (USA).

"Wow!" was all Coco could say.

Wow! is a very good summary, Coco!

To be perfectly honest 'wow' is really all I can say too!

What an amazing and almost unbelievable change from the farmland of the prairie to the huge and towering majesty of the lake and the mountains.
Absolutely amazing!

And I do love how you have made both of the landscapes so perfectly doll-size! *gasp*

I had been on the lookout for a harvested field of wheat with vehicle access off the highway, for at least 1,000 kms already, and with the mountains already in sight, it was probably the last chance. Good thing too, since on our way back home the weathers isn't conducive to 'wheat field' pictures at all.

That picture at Waterton Lake was very uncomfortable to take. I don't much like having to get down on stones that size - and getting up is even worse. Buy hey, if it wasn't for doll photos, I wouldn't be getting any exercise at all.
