A Tiny Chess Set

I was looking for a small scale chess set that would work for my dolls, and came across a shop on Etsy that was selling sets of chess men charms. They looked to be about the right size for 1/4 scale dolls, so I ordered two sets.

They were very nice, but bright silver, so I painted one set black and the other cream, then removed some of the paint once the pieces dried. I found a chess board image online which I printed out. It still needs thicker cardboard backing, but it's looking good....

Very cute! I found some great things on a dollhouse supplies website. Got a darling harp in a case for my custom Talia of Valdamar doll I modded.

I looked at dollhouse miniatures as well, but they were too small for my 1/4 scale dolls.

I love this idea as well but the Etsy shop does not ship to the UK. I did however find the sets on Ebay and ordered 2 sets one in silver and one in bronze. Thank you for sharing the idea, after watching The Queens Gambit all my dolls have been longing to learn how to play :)

I got mine from the shop in Canada, but there were lots of these charms available from other sources.

I wish I'd seen sets in bronze. That would have been a lot easier than trying to paint the sets to look different.

The set you have on display is beautiful and I have nothing like this although I used to sell bone chess sets but now I don't because since last 20 yrs I am more aware of animal cruelty and I wish I had not done it in the first place.
