A Sword for Ringo

Ringo started to open the package - and like everyone already guessed - it was a sword!

"Oh, wow!"

Nami turned to Paige, "I knew he was going to love it."
Paige was confused. "But how did you know he was going to get a sword??"

"Because I watched Dad make it. It was our secret."

"Did you really make it for me yourself?"

"Yes, I did. I knew how important it was to you, so wasn't going to get someone else to do it. Good thing I still know my way around a workshop."

"It's what I always wanted!! I really love it!"

David held up his sword too, "Now we are both Young Knights!"

"You both need to be careful with those!"

"On guard!!"

"I just hope no one puts an eye out!"

I like that Nami was in on the secret. I think that she should have a sword too but I know that historically that would not have happened.

I thought it was funny that you used the phrase "put an eye out." I remember that the old folks used to say that when I was growing up. "Don't do that our you'll put an eye out."

On an aside, yesterday in the US, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment (Women's Suffrage). I think Canada's anniversary is next year. I am happy that we had such dedicated and determined foremothers!

It doesn't really matter what would be 'historical', since my dolls are not living in any particular period. It's all just Fantasy. But I do think the girls would prefer archery equipment to swords.

I just love Nami whispering to Paige. I just love that you put these kids into one of your families. I just LOVE the medieval/fantasy setting. I suspected all along that Ringo would get a special gift, too. That pouty face of his!

Thanks. I'm glad I tried the kids with my FIDs. They add so much in the way of story possibilities.

Of course Ringo had to get one too. Good thing his parents were prepared.
