A Snow Princess

11/25/2020

There's a Christmas story that I've wanted to do for several years, and the main character is a little Princess, so in the hopes that I'll finally get to doing the story this year, I'm making a new outfit for the Princess. I'm taking my inspiration for her costume from the Russian Snow Maiden, who is their Father Frost's granddaughter.  She's traditionally dressed in blues with a fur trimmed jacket....

I had gathered the fabrics a little while ago, but wanted to finish Eden's outfit before I started this new costume.  The main dress would be the gray and blue brocade, with an underskirt and sleeves of the lighter blue, and a little jacket and hat out of the darker blue brocade....
Picture
I cut everything out two days ago, and started work on it. The gown will be for BID Nami, and I'm using my patterns for BID Medieval Gowns  just in a new colour combination....

Then comes the tricky part - designing the little jacket, and trying to figure out how to trim it with white fur, without it getting too bulky.

How do you accomplish this? What absolute magic you create in all of your clothing, not to mention photos. How long does it usually take to put these together?

I started cutting it out two days ago, and the dress will be finished today, but then there's still the jacket and hat.

I absolutely love this whole idea! I can't wait to see your version. My goodness what a lot of work you've done already! You're the most productive person!

Thanks. I try. It's not like there's much else to do (other than housework, but who enjoys that?) and I find it a welcome distraction from all the stress these days.

What a lovely project! You have reminded me I bought some furry yarn for trimming, and really should be sewing for my little Imda 1.7 while stuck at home with only housework to do. Ummmm....
