Did you receive another brick of fruit cake during the holidays, but like most people, can't stand the stuff? Well then today is the day for you. It's "Fruit Cake Toss Day" today, so the girls hauled all their fruitcake outside to see how far they could throw it..... We are going for distance and form.... *Please note; no fruitcake was actually wasted or discarded for this activity. Jan LOVES his dark fruitcake, which I make specially for him every year, and I wasn't going to cut his up, so baked another less fruity cake specially for this photo. Then cut it up, topped some of the loaves with marzipan, and filled several baskets with them. I took the photos after a fresh snowfall, when it was -20 Celsius, to minimize any fruitcake contamination. I figured a few minutes in fresh snow at that temperature wasn't going to hurt them. After letting any snow melt off on paper towels inside, Jan took them to work for his office Christmas Party, where everyone eagerly ate them!

Such fun! But SOOO COLD!! I must confess, I would stay inside and eat the (yummy) fruitcake with a nice hot cup of tea! :)

This is one of my favourite series of photos! The whole concept just makes me laugh whenever I think of it. I think Nami has "gold medal" form :o)
