A New Collar

3/13/2021

The very first thing to be made from the new chainmail, was a new collar for Baron.  The one he had was made from two leftover strips from a chainmail glove, which were sewn together with silver crochet thread.  I constantly had to be n the watch to make sure those unsightly seams never showed up in photos. So this new one is one piece, joined with jump rings at the back.

I also cut the edge into points so it would flare out better...

Martha, your incredible costumes look like museum pieces, they are so wonderful!
May I ask you an unrelated question? In your opinion, would Iplehouse KID Paige work for a younger sister to Narae/ I have searched the internet for size comparison pics but it's becoming more difficult to find Narae pics. I know the height would probably be about right. Now I am just wondering about the head size. I am hoping that Paige's head would not be too big to look right alongside Narae. I would have asked on DOA, but am new there and find it hard to navigate. Thanks for any input you might have.

I think Paige would work nicely as a sister to Narae. I just took them both out of the case to compare, and their heads look almost the same. I looked up their actual measurements, and Paige's is ever so slightly bigger in circumference. Narae is 16.7 cm (6.57") and Paige is 17.5 cm (6.89"), so nothing a wig won't hide. They even have the same chin.

Unfortunately I can't add photos to the comments here, so will have to do that in a new Blog post. Stay tuned.

Thank you, Martha. I appreciate your checking for me. I guess I am almost looking for an excuse to order Paige or Daisy, or any of them, really. I will look forward to anything else you post (as I always do!).

I gathered the dolls and would have taken a photo already, but I have sunshine streaming in both the front and back windows - one from direct sun, and the other bouncing off the windows of the house across the street - so I'll take photos as soon as the sun is behind the house out back, or tomorrow morning.

Paige looks really good with my Narae's. I have a Daisy sculpt too, but it's a boy. I guess I should include him in the photo too.

He looks quite handsome. The chain mail sets off the outfit.

He's had chainmail there since his outfit was made. It just wasn't in one piece - which no one would have even noticed since I was careful never to show the seams in any photos. The only new thing is that he has a dagger edge on it now instead of the straight edge he had before.
