A Challenging Coat

I've been working on making a Victorian coat for Steve, but have been having a lot of issues with it. First it was designing a pattern. Then working with black fabrics. With my eyesight issues I can barely make out what I'm doing. I dreaded inserting the collar, but it went just fine. But then the sleeves were too short, and too wide, and everything started puckering when I stitched the lining around the sleeves. I had to pick it all apart and do it over.

Some of the issues I could live with, but then the back lining didn't match up with the coat fabric, and everything was puckered. But I did like how Steve looked if I zoomed in for a close up....

So now I get to start all over from scratch, redesigning the patterns, making adjustments for all the things that didn't turn out how they were supposed to....or I envisioned them. Fantasy clothes are so much easier!

This is why I bought Lawrence's tuxedo. I can't imagine trying to sew something like that!!

You will get it. He looks nice and I really like the fabric you used on his vest. I have a random question. Have you ever tried your FID boy scalewise against your Our Generation doll horse? Is he close to the right size? Or way too big for the horse? Thanks.

No, I've not tried my FID guys with my OG horse. I haven't done much with them, plus one is in a tux, so not exactly dressed for riding a horse. But horses do come in all kinds of sizes, so maybe it would work. I should try a photo with them to see.

I love brocades! You know, I’ve heard of some horse-crazy people having their weddings on horse back: tux, wedding dress, and all, so maybe a tux wouldn’t be so strange after all! I would love to see a picture if you do try it. ;)
