I'm still painting wings. I've never painted more than one or two sets at a time before, but this time there are 6 sets so it's taking a while. I feel like a wing factory! They do look rather pretty all standing to dry, all in various stages of completion. The flower fairies and commission wings are almost done, but the luna moths haven't even been started yet. I need to finish a commission today because the model is going to go away to "the spa" some time this weekend, so those wings have priority. Charie has finished the faceups and body blushing on Carina and Asa, and they look absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to get them home and try some wigs on them.... and take some photos.
I'm still working on the 6 Kaye Wiggs fairy costumes. The last few weeks have been rough so it's taking longer than I expected. Three of the outfits have double sets of wings, a set of both top and bottom wings. The other three have just a single set each. That's a total of 18 separate wings! I finally finished all the sewing and am busy forming and inserting the wires. Then comes all the painting - on both sides.
I brought away my new Iplehouse girls on Sunday to Charie Wilson for faceups and body blushing. She found some nice blue eyes for both heads. I expect they will be gorgeous when they are done. I've decided to replace the head on my Super Gem. I've had issues with Cuprit right from the beginning and don't feel she fits with my other dolls at all, and in my opinion, she definitely won't look good beside my Iplehouse girls which are the same height. I just can't get used to her, so at this point the best thing to do is just replace her head with something I do like. So I've ordered an Elfdoll Hazy head. Her head is about the same size as a Super Gem, but the neck hole is smaller. Once the head comes, both the head and the Super gem body will need some modification in order for the head to fit properly, but Charie is convinced it can be done. I hope so, since it would be amazing to have such a beautiful face on my Super Gem. I've always loved the Hazy sculpt but didn't really want to splurge on a second Elfdoll. This could be a great solution - make a beautiful Elfdoll - Super Gem hybrid! Had to try a fairy outfit on my Narae to see how it would fit her, and since she hasn't had any photos taken for awhile, I figure I'd just post one. I thought she looked quite pretty as a a fairy, even though the outfit was a bit big on her. Maybe it's time she had something new and exotic.
I received two packages from Iplehouse this morning - Tedros' boots, which are amazing, and my new EID girl(s). That sure was fast - and without any Customs charges or taxes to fork over either! Bonus!!
What gorgeous faces, and I love her body! Iplehouse makes the most beautiful realistic sculpts. Now they need to be painted and brought to life. The heads are a new size for me, so I will also need to make some new wigs. Then come the costumes! Who will be first? Yes, I know I said I have to focus on something other than fairies... but I was at Fabricland last night and they finally had their selection of cotton crinkle gauzes in - and they were on sale! I use them for fairy skirts, and really needed to stock up on the darker colours, since last year they only had bright and light colours. So, planning ahead for future fairies, I bought a metre and a half of many of their colours. I also found some very thin, dark red, blue and green ribbons for my 'Christine, slave girl' costumes.
Canada Post went on strike last night, but it's a "rotating strike", which means they will alternately target different cities across the country, so hopefully we won't be affected too much - it's not like the whole Postal system is shutting down. So, I better hurry and finish the last six fairy outfits that I'm working on for the Kaye Wiggs girls, so I'll be free to finally address something for the larger dolls. "On Shipping" - the best email notice to wake up to in the morning! I saw the email from Iplehouse and just assumed it was the boots for Tedros, but after checking the order number, it turned out to be the doll instead! She's a Real Skin EID with two heads - Asa and Carina - two different models for little more than the price of one.
I'm starting to get inquiries for EID costumes, so the timing is perfect. The ladies are coming without faceups so that will need to be addressed first. And with Tedros finally getting some footwear, I'll have no excuses anymore. Now I just hope Canada Post doesn't go on strike Friday like they are threatening to. I've already checked the tracking numbers for all my recently sent packages and they are all safely out of the country, so at least they won't be affected by any strike. |
