First she pinned up the background fabric..
With all the time it took to move into her new studio, Narae couldn't wait to get back to her painting. She was really in the mood to paint a still life, so started setting one up. First she pinned up the background fabric.. Then it needed a pretty flower arrangement... ...and a tea service..... ...then a bit of artistic rearrangement of the macarons.... ....and all done, and ready to paint!
Narae was putting the finishing touches on a huge Alphabet art piece.... When it was finished, she found a good place to hang it... "It fits perfectly here..."
There was a lot of work to do, moving from her old studio space into the new one. All the bins with art supplies needed to be unpacked and everything put away....
Narae was busy hanging the rack for all the art aprons... She was anticipating a lot of students, and they'd need a place to hang their aprons back up.... Then she brought in some of her still life props and paintings that she'd started.... ...and she hung up all the aprons.... *Photo Tip; To make the aprons hang properly, I soaked them all, wrung them out, and let them dry all scrunched up lengthwise.
Steve and Isis stopped to get some take-out on their little trip up north... "It really is so beautiful up here in winter..."
I was loving the way Bianca's photos were turning out, so thought I'd introduce her to Lawrence..... ...and the final photo, which is my favourite....
I figured everyone would be curious about the background I'm using for my photos of Bianca, so i thought I'd take a couple of photos to share. The only place in my house that looks elegant enough is a spot on the dining room floor in front of my china cabinet. But the carpet there was in the way, so Jan pulled it back. However, the corner was still too close, so I tucked it up under one of the the chairs legs. After hanging a small Rembrandt painting on the door handle, and placing the furniture, I was ready for the dolls..... The first photos taken in the morning were with a tripod, but by afternoon the sun was making the room a lot brighter, so I could shoot hand-held. However, as the afternoon goes on, more and more sun shines into the room, and I have to partially draw the drapes, which then gives the whole scene decidedly 'peach' undertones, so the last photos of the day are always a lot 'warmer'....
I finally finished Bianca's gown, and set up a small scene on my dining room floor at the base of my china cabinet, to take some pictures. The look I was going for was like an elegant drawing room in some old mansion. I love how they are turning out, and just had to share.... And with a slight change of background props.... I took these photos using a tripod, sitting as far back as I could, so the photos wouldn't be from above. Now I'm waiting for the sun to come out, and the lighting to get brighter, so i can shoot hand-held, and get some closer shots.
Steve and Isis were enthralled by all the awesome ice formations on the rocks... ...and he took lots of photos of the ice....
