Just Patterns

These patterns and templates are intended for more experienced sewers. There are no instructions, so you are on your own, although the under construction photos in the Outlander Creative Journey may help.

To download the pattern pdf, just click on the photo below....

The pdf should contain the following seven pages....
*Note, those pieces marked 'Pattern' include seam allowances.  Those marked 'Template' are meant to be traced onto the wrong side of your fabric. The traced lines become the sewing lines. Remember to add seam allowances to the templates.

I took a photo of the inside of his coat, to show how I put it together.
*Note that the lining is not attached in the armholes, or on the back. The coat will hang better that way.

the Hat

Picture
*Instructions for the Hat
The hat was made by cutting two of each hat pattern and template out of thin black fabric, adding seam allowances to the crown and brim. The outer hat and hat lining were sewn separately. Then a cardboard crown was cut and lightly glued into the underside of the hat crown, making it smooth and stiff. When dry, the lining was positioned inside the hat with wrong sides together, and the two layers basted together. Zig-zag the outer edge, then handset a wire all the way around, overlapping a bit at the back.  Then the wire was covered with a strip of black leather. After it was completely dry, the hat was bent into the proper shape.

the Muscle Body
Even though the outfit was designed to fit Rex's Model body, it also fit my Lawrence, who has the Muscle body...
