A New King, Somewhere in Time
A Little Princess
"It sounds like it was a beautiful wedding..."
"It certainly was. And within the year...."
"Lawrence and Monica welcomed their first child."
"A little Princess..."
"The old King was thrilled to meet his granddaughter..."
'She is so beautiful. She has your red hair, and your Mother's eyes.'
"Baron went to welcome the new little Princess..."
"...and Lawrence asked him to be her Godfather."
the Old King
"But things were about to change yet again. That winter the King fell ill."
"He was very old. He and his first Queen had been childless. He loved her very much, but several years after she died he found love again, and took a new wife....a much younger, new Queen..... and she bore him a son...Lawrence.
The King was already well passed middle age, and had given up all hope of ever becoming a father, so was thrilled to have a son. A few years later the Queen became with child again, but that time there were complications, and she died giving birth to a little Princess .....Grace.
The King was heartbroken, but knew his children needed him, so he was determined to raise them as best he could."

"He spent a lot of time with his son...."
" ...teaching and guiding him...."
" and he absolutely doted on his daughter....."
"...She reminded him so much of her mother...."
"No matter how busy he was, the King always tried to spend some time with his children."
"He never expected to live long enough to see either of them marry..."
"...or that he'd become a grandfather. So he was thankful for every moment."
"But that following winter he became very ill, and he was not expected to recover."
Saying Good-bye
"Grace and Lawrence sat with their Father, who was not expected to last the night."
"Baron was there as well. The King had been like a Father to him.
And he wanted to be there for his friends"
And he wanted to be there for his friends"
"Grace was heart broken...."
"Her Father was the only parent she had even known."
"Her Father took her hand.....
'You have been the joy of my life' "
'You have been the joy of my life' "
"She leaned in close.."
'I don't know what I'm going to do without you....'
"...and she kissed him..."
'I love you Papa...'
Death of the King
"That is so sad. It's so hard to lose a parent, and having to say good-bye...forever..."
'Yes it is...and Grace couldn't take it any more, so left the room..."
"Lawrence stayed with his Father all night. Baron stayed as well, to support him...."
'You have been such a wonderful Father, and I was proud to be your son.
I love you Father.
I hope I can be half the King you were.....'
I love you Father.
I hope I can be half the King you were.....'
'I'm so proud of you, son.'
"I know you will be a great, kind, and wise King..."
"Then, at the first light of dawn, the old King quietly passed away...."
"Lawrence felt overwhelmed, with both the grief of loosing his beloved Father, and the weight of all the new responsibilities awaiting him....."
"The King was dead......
Long live the King!!"
Long live the King!!"
Dawn of a New Day
"Baron found Lawrence alone in the throne room..."
'Your Majesty...'
"Lawrence was a little taken aback..."
'This is going to take a little getting used to.'
'But I'd prefer if we could dispense with the official titles...especially when it's just the two of us.'
'As you wish....Sire....'
'All titles. We are still the same two men we were yesterday.....'
'.....and I'm going to need a good friend now, more than ever. Someone who won't be afraid to speak their mind.'
'Well then,..... I think we need to go for a ride. It's been a very difficult night, and there's nothing you can do right now, so I think a ride would do you good. Clear your head and prepare you for everything that needs to be done later today....'
'Excellent idea!'
'Let's go....'
"And they rode out into the silence of the freshly fallen snow...."
"The new King, and his good friend...."
