Victorian Everyday 2 - A Baby on the Way
A collection of photos of the ongoing story involving my Victorian family
Time to Get Ready
Back on Valentine's Day, Iris surprised Steve with the news that they were going to be having another baby. Well, the months have flown by, and now the time was almost there.
Iris called Steve into the room. "Give me your hand..."
Iris called Steve into the room. "Give me your hand..."
"Can you feel that??"
"Yes....yes... I can !!"
"Well, that's our little girl...."
"How do you know it's a girl??"

"I just do...."

Baby Bedding
Nyssa was outplaying with her buggy, when she went over to see what her Mom was doing....
"What are you making?"
"I'm embroidering a sheet for the new baby's bed..."
"It looks really nice..."
"But don't you still have things from when we were babies?"
"Not really. After we had you and Eric, I gave almost everything away."
"So you have to make everything all over again now?"
"Yes, I do, but it's no trouble. I actually enjoy it...."
After Nyssa left, Iris let out a big sigh....
"But it is like starting all over again, like the very first time..."
"But it is like starting all over again, like the very first time..."
Baby Clothes
Iris had just finished the sheet and pillow set....
"This will look so nice in the cradle..."
When Nyssa came into the room....
"You said that you gave away all the baby clothes after you had us...."
"....but I still have my own baby clothes you gave me for my doll..."
"I thought I would loan it back to you..."
"....for the new baby..."
"Thank you, sweetheart! That is so thoughtful, and very generous of you!"
"I made these when we were expecting you and your brother..."
"It seems like just yesterday..."
"It's hard to believe you were this small once..."
"It will look really nice on the new baby, right Mom?"
"Yes, it certainly will!"
"And I promise to take really good care of it..."
"Well, I better go find something else for my baby to wear now..."
the Package
Iris was relaxing, looking through one of her favourite children's books....
When the children came in carrying a huge box....
"The postman just brought this package..."
"It's from Aunt Donna...."
"I wonder what she sent?"
"Well, let's open it and find out..."
Eric was especially excited to see what was in the package...
"Aunt Donna says she made a blanket ...."
"....specially for the new baby..."
"It's beautiful!"
"But it's PINK!!"
"She says she made it pink because she thinks it's going to be a girl."
"But I wanted a boy! I already have enough sisters!!"
"Well, she says that she's almost always right. She just 'knows' these things."
"Well, if it is a girl, I'm sure you'll be the best big brother she could ever have!"
"And I won't have to share any of my toys! So maybe it's a good thing!"
Redecorating the Nursery
The nursery had been home to three babies already, and was in need of being 'refreshed'.
So Steve was busy repainting, papering, and putting up new wainscotting...
"I'm really liking this wallpaper..."
'I just need to put up a bit more of this trim..."
"and do some final painting. Then I can move the furniture back in, and you can decorate."
Ready and Waiting
The Victorian Nursery was finally finished. Now it just needed an occupant....
