couple of my favourite photos from last year's St. Nicholas photos story...
Yesterday was St. Nicholas Eve, and we were gone all day, so I just want to share a couple of my favourite photos from last year's St. Nicholas photos story... The whole story can be seen here
It was a rare sunny morning when we went out east from Jasper townsite to look at all the small lakes and ponds along Hwy 16. But the dark clouds were already moving in....
One of the most popular tourist spots along the Icefields Parkway in Jasper National Park, is the beautiful Athabasca Falls just south of the town of Jasper. It's always a very busy place, frequented by busloads of tourists. I only took Holly and Lonnie with me, and was feeling rather self-conscious because the only places to take good photos was along the railings at the overlooks where all the people are, and there was a photography tour group with members and their big expensive photo equipment set up in almost all the good spots. So I waited for them to finish and leave.
With all the things going on, I've not been inspired, or had time, to take lots of new Holiday photos. I've been posting lots of older photos on Facebook - after all, very few people there have ever seen them. But here I need new ones. So today I caught sight of the two new cats and wondered what it would be like for the kids now that there's two cats in the house. How would they react to a Christmas tree? Well, unfortunately, they LOVED it! They climbed into the tree, knocked all kinds of ornaments off, and got tangled in the lights... Holly and Ringo rushed over to coax the cats out of the tree.... "You are a bad, BAD kitty!" "Meow..." "But I love you anyways."
It was snowing high in the mountains, and the weather wasn't the greatest when we pulled into the far parking lot at the Icefields Centre. It's one of my very favourite spots along the entire Icefields Parkway. It wasn't ideal for photos right then, so I only took a few - thinking we'd get another chance in a few days on our way back south. But little did we know that the weather would continue to get worse over the next few days, so it was a good thing I did take a few photos after all..... "Is that a bus going out onto that glacier?" "No, it's a Snowcoach."
After ascending the Big Bend mountain pass into Jasper, we decided to take a break at Hilda Ridge so everyone could get out and stretch their legs. They found hiking through the boulder field a bit too strenuous.... ....especially for Holly... But Coco found some interesting 'fuzzy flowers'....
