Today, September 19th, is National Electricity Day.
Be glad you have it, or you wouldn't be looking at this..
As I work on processing photos for all the upcoming stories, I decided to go back and share some of my favourite photos from the past. Like today's Special Day photo....
Today, September 19th, is National Electricity Day. Be glad you have it, or you wouldn't be looking at this.. We just got home from a week away on a little road trip up north. No computers, no internet, no electricity, just a phone without any media packages, up in the wilderness checking out the fall colours up north.... ....up in the Canadian Shield surrounded by nature; lakes, rocks, and trees.... It was nice, although cold, with temperatures hovering just above freezing at night. But that's what the trees need in order to turn colour... I brought along two sets of dolls in hopes of photographing them along the way. I wanted a realistic couple I'd never taken anywhere before. So I settled on Eden and Yvette. Neither has had much attention since they arrived, always playing background characters in other doll's stories. So this time it would just be the two of them....and their dog.... Then there was the second set of dolls, the Avery twins and the family of dragons. Ever since I tried taking the 'hot air balloon' photos earlier this month, I thought it would be fun for the twins to go on a balloon adventure with the dragons. I made some improvements to the basket, and the way that the balloon was attached, and off they went... I took over four hundred photos, so it's going to take some time to process them all. Plus there's a ton of clean up work to do after our trip, so not a lot of photo processing time right now. But I'll get to it eventually, so stay tuned for both stories....
Emily loved her 'auntie' Saphira, and was very affectionate. But how does a tiny little elf hug a giant dragon? "I love you!"
Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada, and this year it falls on October 9th, which also just happens to be National Moldy Cheese Day. So the mice had put aside a large chunk of cheese a few weeks ago, letting it mellow and go moldy in their pantry, to be enjoyed as a special delicacy on Thanksgiving along with a glass of wine. Muffy prepared to do the honours.... ..while the others waited in anticipation... "Yummm!!" Happy Thanksgiving!
Raillie's birthday is in early October, and she wanted a party out in the garden. But it was in the middle of an unprecedented October heat wave, so I only managed to take some photos of her with her cake, and some group photos with her friends.
I fell in love with DreamHigh Studio's Otto, the Otter, the first time I saw him in his armour back in December. He reminded me of the tiny animal knights fighting alongside the characters in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe's Prince Caspian, and would fit in perfectly with my tiny Elf Knight army. So I ordered him, and after several delays, he arrived in August. I was busy with other projects, so it took a while to finally address trying to finagle his armour onto him. it was all laced together with fine elastic and was a huge challenge to get him into, but I did succeed. I found the red scarf he came with was a bit too bulky, so knit him a finer, new one. He also needed a weapon, and I still had a few more sword charms which were the perfect size. Otto with his companions in arms...
Today, October 5th is Balloons Around the World Day, so I put together a small 'hot air balloon' so Avery and Emily could go flying high above the countryside. Then we went for a test flight... The test flight proved successful, and pointed out the areas that needed improvement. So I've dealt with them, and it's now ready to be taken on a Hot Air Balloon adventure.
Dominic turned to his son. "I've been wondering about something." "I was so surprised when you named your son Daniel...." "I really love that name, and am just wondering what made you choose it?" "Well....I don't know. I've always liked the name, ever since I was a boy. There just seemed to be something special about it. Why?" "Because.... it was the name your mother and I gave you when you were born." Baron was speechless. "You mean, that I was Daniel...before Miho rescued me and named me Baron?" Naomi heard what Dominic said.... "Of course! It never even occurred to either of us that Baron would have already had a name before Miho found him that fateful day." "Yes, Amelia and I named you Daniel...after my father." "So why didn't you say anything when we announced his name?" "Well...to be honest, I was a bit in shock. And even though Daniel was the name of my baby son all those years ago...." "...the man he became, who I became reunited with recently, has always been known by another name. There's no way Miho would have known the name of the baby she found that day, so she chose to name you Baron Alexander." "It's the name you grew up with, and the name I knew you by when I first met you last year as Miho's son. So, even though you are one and the same as my little Daniel that I lost so long ago, I'm proud to know you now as Baron." "It just seemed like a miracle to me, that of all the names you could have chosen for your son..." "...you unknowingly chose the name you yourself had been given as a baby. Maybe on some unconscious level you remembered." "I think it's wonderful that he's been given the names of his father, and great grandfather...." "..and that of Naomi's father." "This little man will have the honour of carrying forward the legacy of all three of those noble forebears. He will have a lot to live up to."
Dominic would often come during the day to see if the babies were awake... ...then sit down to play with them. "Your father is so good with them." Baron went over to talk to him. "I love how you interact with them." "I'm so happy, and proud, that my children have you as their grandfather."
