Today is 'Fry an Egg on the Sidewalk Day', and it will be hot enough out there to do just that.... It's also 'Tom Sawyer, Whitewash the Fence Day' ...and it's American Independence Day.... ...so, Happy 4th of July to all my American friends!!
Meanwhile, back in the parlour, the ladies were working on their needlepoint.... ...when the three children came in, carrying the big framed photograph... "Do you know who the people in this picture are??" They turned it around so everyone could see it.... "We found this up in the attic, and thought you might know who they are..."
With Canada Day being on a Sunday, most places are closed today as well, as part of the 'Holiday Weekend'. So to celebrate some more, I thought I'd post some of my favourite doll photos from our travels across this vast country of ours. Being in southern Ontario, we are somewhat centrally located, so I'll start there.....with one of Ontario's most famous attractions....Niagara Falls.... Heading northward, the beautiful red granite shoreline of Georgian Bay, Lake Huron.... The spectacular fall foliage in Algoma, north by Lake Superior Prairie winds in Manitoba..... Grain elevators in Saskatchewan.... Vast wheat fields in Alberta... The Rockies at Waterton lakes, southern Alberta.... More majestic Rockies, further north, at Lake Edith Cavell in Jasper, Alberta.... Canada's desert in central British Columbia..... In front of the parliament buildings in Victoria, on Vancouver Island.... Hiking in the Rainforest at Pacific Rim, on Vancouver Island... Watching the waves roll in, along the Pacific Ocean on Vancouver Island... Then, back in Ontario, we head east. Mostly we just drive through Quebec and New Brunswick on our way to the Maritimes, but we always stop at one park along the St. Lawrence River... One of our favourite places in all the Maritimes, is Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia... Playing on the cliff tops in northern Newfoundland.... An Inukshuk in Labrador.... Checking out the Lobsters in Twillingate.... Watching for whales at Cape Spear, the easternmost point in North America.... ....and finally, Canada Day at Cape Bonavista, Newfoundland....
Today is Canada's 151st birthday! So, to mark the occasion I dressed several of my kids in patriotic red & white, and hauled them out into the sweltering heat yesterday evening to take some photos....then promptly took them all back in... where it was nice and cool....
I finished two new outfits for my Kaye Wiggs MSDs, so took Izzy and Layla outside for a cool summer treat on Friday before it got too hot
