Victorian Times
Photos of Iris and Steve's family in Victorian Times. They were all taken to become additions to two Victorian Family albums under construction at the time, so are just some simple scenes, and not intended to be complete stories.
Family Portraits
I was working on a set of Victorian Family photo albums featuring many of the photos taken of Iris and Steve's family in Victorian times throughout the years. And like usual there were always a few new photos that needed to be taken. The albums would be landscape format (horizontal) but most of the family portraits were vertical, so we needed one in horizontal format. So everyone came out of the china cabinet to pose for a new family portrait...
And while I was at it, with everyone in a cooperative mood, I took advantage of the opportunity to take a few more portraits....
Going for a Walk
Steve and Iris enjoyed taking their family out for a walk to enjoy the first flowers of Spring....
Victorian Boys
While looking back at all the photos of my Victorian family over the years, it became clear that Eric was under represented. Maybe it was because he was always wearing a dressy sailor suit. But he also didn't seem to have any friends, other than his cousin Coco who would come for a visit now and then. So, I decided to remedy the situation.
I made a pair of tartan pants to go with an existing shirt and vest, then made two entirely new outfits. From the left; Elliot, Coco, Bordy....

I had originally planned on giving Eric one of the new outfits, but in the end I didn't feel like taking one of the new outfits from the other boys, thereby reducing his number of friends, so I needed to make yet another outfit...
In the end, I decided that Eric would get the outfit Coco was wearing, since he was from quite an affluent family,
and I made a new outfit for Coco...
So Eric finally had a group of friends to go out and do some fun things with...
Birthday Flowers
Iris was out on the patio taking apart a flower arrangement that was well past its prime.
while Sena was entertaining herself in her playpen...
The flowers had been a birthday gift from Steve, and were some of her favourites, but unfortunately cut flowers don't last very long.
She was also keeping an eye on Sena...
...who was more than just a little interested in Rags, their cat....and he in her...
Dandelions for Mom
While Iris was taking apart her birthday flowers on the patio, Eric arrived....
"These are for you Mom."
"I picked them specially for you."
"Why, thank you!"
"That's so sweet of you."
"I love dandelions. They are such happy flowers."
the Pond
t was spring break and Eric's cousin Coco was visiting. They were free to spend every day roaming about with Eric's friends doing whatever they wanted.
There was a big pond nearby...
"This looks like a good place to catch some frogs."
"I see one over there!"
"I see some over there too."
"There's lots of them everywhere!"
"Well, let's go catch some!"
Polliwogs
Elliot managed to catch some tadpoles...
"Wow, that's a lot!"
"They are all baby frogs..."
"And they are all going to grow into actual frogs."
"Wow!"
Frogs
While Elliot had been catching polliwogs, the others were catching frogs....
Bordy caught one...
But they had no place to keep them.
They just jumped right back out of the pail...
Showing the Girls
When Eric and his friends returned to his house, they proudly showed his sister and her friend the jar full of tadpoles....
Rags, their cat, found then particularly interesting...
Then Bordy held up one of the frogs he'd caught...
Nyssa didn't much like frogs...
...but Rags was very curious...
"Keep it away from me!"
the Morning Paper
Bordy, one of Eric's friends, had a job as a paperboy.
Every morning he would be standing outside the bank where Steve worked....
"Your morning paper, Sir?"
"Yes, thank you."
the Office
Steve was manager at a major bank, and had his own private office...
His secretary would come in first thing every morning to deliver the mail...
"Good morning Sir. These were just delivered."
Every afternoon his secretary would bring a cup of his favourite tea....
"Your tea, Sir."
He'd take a short break...
...and then get back to work...
Dandelions
After work and on weekends, Steve liked to spend some time with his twins. They enjoyed biking, but Nyssa loved wildflowers, so they'd often have to stop so she could pick some...
They were just dandelions....
But after the long winter, they were a sign that Spring was finally here..
Periwinkles
Spring was such a wonderful time in the woods. The buds on the trees were just starting to open, and everything was beginning to green up.
The days were starting to get warmer, and Steve and the children enjoyed going out to the woods to see what had started to grow again....
"I think I see some periwinkle over there."
Nyssa went to pick some...
But she was finding it hard to hold the flowers as well as her handlebars.
"Dad, I can't hold the flowers while I'm riding my bike."
"I can take them."
"I can put them in my basket."
"Now we can go home."
Ice Cream
Sometimes on their outings, Steve would treat everyone to an ice cream...
"Thank you Dad,"
"You're very welcome."
"It's such a lovely day, I thought we could all enjoy a treat,"
But Eric saw trouble coming....
as a group of geese approached....
"I think they want our ice cream."
