Lesser Known Special Days

February 26th is National Tell a "Fairy-tale Day"
February 28th is National "Flower Arranging Day"
February 29th is Yellowstone Park Day
On February 29th, 1872, Yellowstone became the USA's first national park. Nami fondly remembers her visit there.
March 1st is National Pig Day, as well as Peanut Butter Day
Nami thought what better way to commemorate the day than to make peanut butter sandwiches for a pig
March 6th is "Book Day". It's also "National Frozen Food Day"
So the little girls decided to celebrate by reading some of their favourite little animal stories,
and indulging in some of their favourite frozen food - ice cream!

March 11th is "Wear a Name-Tag Day"
Write any name you like on it, but wear a name-tag.
March 13th is "National Jewel Day"
.... so Namia and Byuri deck themselves up in every jewel they can find...
March 14th is "National Potato Chip Day"
Marvel at all the many different flavours, and try as many as you can.
March 14th is also "Learn About Butterflies Day"
March 20th is "Festival of Alien Abductions Day"
The girls decided to go play down at the lake, where UFOs are known to hang out, but they are taking every precaution.

March 20th is also "National Quilt Day" and "Proposal Day"
Kassia is working on her unicorn quilt, when Adrian comes, gets down on one knee, and presents her with a ring.
March 21st is "Flower Day"
Buy some flowers and give them to someone special today.
March 25th is "Waffle Day"
April 2nd is "International Children's Book Day"
Hope and Layla are loving the little animal stories by Beatrix Potter, but Miki prefers Robert Munch's "Paper Bag Princess"
April 4th is National Repot Your Plant Day
So my girls rolled up their sleeves to transplant their orchids and pot up some seedlings
April 6th is National Tartan Day
It's laundry day in the tartan household, and they are hanging all their plaid blankets out to dry.
April 11th is Dandelion Day
Elin found some little yellow coltsfoot - not exactly dandelions, but it's still too soon for the real thing
April 12th is "Look Up At the Sky Day"
Stare up at the sky, ponder why it's blue, and see how many clouds look like animals
April 15th is Leonardo da Vinci's Birthday
It's also the anniversary of the opening of the very first McDonald's restaurant.

April 22 is Earth Day"
April 25th is "World Penguin Day"
Byuri has come prepared with a pail full of herring for her penguin friend
April 28th is "International Astronomy Day"
Lonnie is working on her project, a model of the solar system.
April 30th is "Hairstyle Appreciation Day"
Everyone is supposed to compliment others on their great hairstyles today, but Nami would prefer to admire her own.
May 1st is "May Day"
"May the Fourth Be With You!" May 4th is "Star Wars Day"
May 5th is "Cinquo de Mustachio"
The day to compare the mustache you've been growing to see who of your friends has the best one
May 7th is "No Socks Day"
Put on some sandals and go sockless, or go barefoot.
Sunday May 12th was Mother's Day
May 15th is "National Chocolate Chip", and "Straw Hat Day"
May 18th is "International Museum Day"
Take the day off, and go visit at least one museum today.
May 22nd is "Buy A Musical Instrument Day"
So the girls emptied their piggy-banks, got advances on their allowances, and headed off to the local symphony's garage sale.
May 23rd is "World Turtle Day"
May 25th is "Towel Day"
