Safety Vest
This roomy safety vest was originally designed to fit my Iplehouse JID Owen, so he could be a garbage collector. I also used it for JID Benny so she could be a crossing guard....

Then I made a second one so both my JID guys could help out when our road was repaved....
It is roomy so will also fit a FID....

Pattern
To download the pdf, click on the image below. Please note that the 'patterns' are actually templates, intended to be traced onto the wrong side of your fabric, and they do not include seam allowances....
Instructions
1 - Trace templates onto wrong side of orange fabric, and yellow fabric for vest lining. Cut out adding seam allowances.
2 - Sew shoulder seams and press open. On right side of orange vest sew 5/8" wide yellow ribbon as shown, across shoulders. The horizontal band will be sewn on later after the vest is complete. Sew 3/8" grey ribbon in centres of yellow ribbon.
3 - Pin right side of vest to right side of lining. Sew up one front edge, around neck, and down second front edge. Sew around both arm holes. Clip all the curves, and turn right side out buy pulling the front sections through the shoulders. Press flat
4 - Pin underarm seam and sew. Press. With vest inside out, match up bottom seam and sew across, leaving a 2" space in middle so you can turn the vest right side out through it. Clip the corners and turn right side out. Press. Hand stitch opening closed.
5. Sew yellow ribbon 3/4" from bottom of vest, leaving a short tail at both ends to fold inside later. Sew tray ribbon in middle of yellow ribbon. Fold ends of ribbon to inside of vest and hand stitch in place. Press. Sew on snaps.
