A Man on a Mission

Naomi's birthday was coming up, and Baron had a very special gift in mind for her. He knew that she had given up her dream of being a fashion designer in order to be with him. He also knew that she had taken her old toy sewing machine her grandmother had given her, but that she could really use something better. So, he was going to borrow Miho's special jewel to travel to Victorian times to get her a real sewing machine.

"Be very careful with it. It's your only way back home."
Picture
"I will."
Picture
He was all set to go...
Picture
Miho handed him the hat...
Picture
Picture
"Make sure you blend in, and don't draw any attention to yourself."
Picture
"I'll be careful. It's not like I haven't done this before."
Picture
Picture
"I'll see you when I get back."

the Dress Shop Window

Baron made his way through the streets of Victorian London, looking for a haberdashery selling sewing and dressmaking supplies.
Picture
And soon came across one....
Picture
...and right there in the front window was a sewing machine....
Picture
Picture
It might just be exactly what he was looking for...
Picture
The shopkeeper had noticed him in the window....
Picture
So he thought he'd go in and ask her about it.

A Sewing Machine

Baron went into the shop.
Picture
"May I help you, Sir?"
Picture
"Yes, I hope so, Miss."
Picture
"I'm looking for a sewing machine."
Picture
"My wife's birthday is coming up, and she loves to sew, but right now she has to do it all by hand."
Picture
"So I'd like to surprise her with a sewing machine. "
Picture
"Well, you've come to the right place."
Picture

the Machine in the Window

"I noticed the sewing machine in the window."
Picture
"Yes, it's our newest model."
Picture
It just arrived last week."
Picture
"Would you like to take a closer look?"
Picture
"I have another one right over here..."
Picture
"It really is a wonderful machine."
Picture
The shopkeeper thought for a moment. "If you are interested in the newest model, perhaps you may be interested in the new motorized version instead."
Picture
Picture
" The company has just come out with a brand new electric sewing machine. It allows the seamstress to work so much faster with both hands free."
Picture
"Um...no thank you. We live in a rather remote estate in the country... without any electricity."
Picture
"So, unfortunately that wouldn't work."
Picture
"In that case I think this machine will be the perfect one for you then."
Picture

"Anything Else?"

The shopkeeper was going to write up the bill. "Is there anything else, Sir?"
Picture
Baron thought for a moment....
Picture
Picture
He realized the sewing machine would be useless without thread...
Picture
"Yes, I'm going to need some thread as well."
Picture

More Supplies

Baron decided he'd better get some extra needles, some machine oil, and a few spare parts for the machine just in case something broke down, as it would be impossible to get them back home. Then he thought Naomi might appreciate an iron as well.
Picture
The shopkeeper had taken out a bag for Baron to put all his extra purchases into....
Picture
"So, is that everything now, Sir?"
Picture
Baron considered if he had everything.  "No, I think I could use some more thread."
Picture
So he started filling the bag with as much thread as it could hold...
Picture
The shopkeeper held the bag as Baron filled it with thread....
Picture
He took all of her thread, then felt bad that he'd depleted her entire stock, so put one spool back...
Picture
"There.  I think that will be enough."
Picture
"That's everything now."
Picture

the Bill

The shopkeeper started adding up all of Baron's purchases....
Picture
Picture
It was the biggest sale she'd had all year!
Picture
After paying, Baron put on his hat, and picked up the sewing machine and the bag....
Picture
"Thank you for all your help Miss. My wife is going to love all this."
Picture
And with his errand complete...
Picture
Picture
..he headed out.
