Medieval Fantasy MSDs

In addition to my Fashion size Medieval Fantasy dolls and their families, I have a large group of other Fantasy Medieval dolls in MSD size who predate the Fashion size dolls, and are from a range of different doll companies. They are all wearing their regular outfits in the photo, but they can also play any number of different roles if I need additional characters for a story.

Size Comparison

So, how do the older MSDs compare to the Fashion size dolls?

Maya, Aeran, and Kyle

These three are some of my very first MSD size dolls. Maya was my very first MSD boy back in 2011, followed by Aeran, also in 2011. She was my second Narae and needed her own name, so I just spelled it backwards. I needed a guy to accompany Aeran on a trip out west in 2012, and Kyle was the most mature looking of the male JID sculpts Iplehouse had at the time.

They are the three main characters in the Quest, an adventure story started in 2012. Aeran is a Princess on a search for an important talisman. Maya is her childhood friend. Kyle is a Prince, and a companion on her Quest.

Aeran and Kyle do eventually fall in love and marry.
(I photographed a lot more to their story last year, but it hasn't been shared yet)

...and Aeran is eventually crowned Queen to succeed her Grandfather....

Maya and Kyle both appeared as extras in the White Cat Sequel

Maya also stars in his own adventure in one of the Quest Epilogues (which has also not been released yet)

Kassia and Adrian

Kassia and Prince Adrian are a Royal couple.

Their costumes were reworked from the two OOAK art doll stars of our original White Cat story from 35 years ago. The original polymer clay dolls were among the very first ones my sister and I made, and the sculpting did not hold up to the standards of our later dolls. But I loved their costumes, and since the original dolls were the same size as a standard MSD ball-jointed doll, I made the decision to remove the clothes from the art dolls and rework them so they'd be removable costumes for a pair of BJDs instead. Thankfully I hadn't used any glue, so it wasn't that difficult.

Kassia and Adrian have officially been a couple ever since I chose the two of them to wear the two costumes back in 2013. They have appeared in several stories over the years, but their most recent claim to fame is starring in my White Cat sequel, Happily Ever After? in 2022.

...but they can both occasionally take on roles in other stories if needed. Kassia had an adventure in modern times, back in 2017 - in Kassia, Out and About - when she loaned her gown to a friend for her wedding renewal. And Adrian has a major role in the Quest, as one of Aeran's servants...

Narin and Butterfly Narae

These two are brother and sister and have ongoing roles as servants in the various castles.

Narin is the King's personal secretary,

He is also a very talented artist,

and he occasionally plays support roles in various other stories.
Like Prince Philip in the White Cat Sequel, and one of the servants in the Quest

Butterfly Narae usually works as a maid in Miho's castle.

She starred as Nora in the Christmas Story,

Her biggest role to date was that of a contemporary art teacher in her Artist Narae story.

Three Single Ladies

There are three unattached, single, Medieval Fantasy ladies. From the left: Soa, Isar, and Lily
They don't have back stories of their own, and can occasionally appear as extras in other stories.

Lily has appeared in the White Cat Sequel as the Princess whose husband was turned into a frog..

Isar went on a solo trip to the US Southwest back in 2012, the year she arrived - Isar in Canyonlands

She has an ongoing role as tavern proprietor in the Quest, Somewhere in Time, and the White Cat Sequel, in which she also plays the Princess whose three brother were turned into Ravens...

..and Soa plays an older Byuri in her role as Little Beaver in one of the Quest Epilogues...

the Wizard

The Wizard is one of my favourite and most versatile dolls, and even though his original character is that of a Wizard, he has more ongoing individual personas than anyone else.

In addition to being a Wizard..

He's been a cobbler...

He has been the proprietor of a Victorian Curiosity Shoppe.

He is Santa Claus...

..as well as St. Nicholas...

He has been a King as Lawrence's father in Somewhere in Time....

..and as Aeran's grandfather in the Quest...

He has been a Bishop, and officiated at Baron & Naomi's wedding...

...and he was a doctor in New Beginnings.

He is everyone's Grandfather, regardless of period...

...and one of his greatest roles was as Nick, the woodcutter, in A Christmas Story...

the House Elves

The final set of dolls inhabiting my Medieval Fantasy world, are the House Elves.
