Iplekids Everyday - Part 3

A collection of photos of my smaller Iplehouse dolls, taken from early May to the end of August

Too Much Rain

April showers brought May showers. And May showers were bringing floods. It was day two of four days of pouring rain. The ground was already saturated, so the water had no place to go.  Everything was a swamp, and my kids were getting fed up with being stuck inside. It was even too wet for Ringo to go sail his boat in a puddle. But Elin decided to prepare herself, and brought out her ark...
Picture
Chloe brought her giraffes, hoping they could go on the ark too....
Picture
"But there's only two of each kind allowed!"
Picture
"But the giraffes don't want to leave their kids behind!"
Picture
"Do you think my bunny can go too?"

Angela and the Blossoms

Took the opportunity between showers, to take some photos of Angela with the crabapples....

Flower Watering

May 30 was 'Water a Flower Day', and of course some of the girls wanted to help..
But the watering can was a bit big and cumbersome for Elin....
Picture
Even so, she wanted to help, but like most kids playing with water, she totally over-did it....
Picture
So it's a good thing the pots have drainage holes in the bottom....

Happy Birthday Chloe!

May 31st was Chloe's birthday, a year since she first arrived, so we had a little celebration.

Her lace party dress, was one of the two flower girl dresses I made for the wedding. I had chosen that particular pink lace because
it suited Chloe's complexion, and I figured the dress could do double duty. 'Two birds with one stone', so to speak.

Happy Father's Day!

I was looking through the older 'Special Days' photos to see if there were any for Father's Day, but decided I needed
something new. Owen was still in his tux and I thought maybe he could be dressed up to have a tea party with his
little girl and some of her favourite dolls and toys. But I decided casual clothes would work even better.
Picture
Owen first tried sitting on one of the small chairs, but decided it worked better if he sat on
the floor. Then he'd at least be the right height, and the chairs could be for Holly's dolls....

Bargain Hunting

Benny took her family along to Value Village, and they all found some great bargains....
Picture
Erzulie found an almost new Winnie the Pooh and a doll, while Efreet found a box of Lego.
He's hoping all the pieces are there.
Picture
Benny picked up some fabric and yarn, while Angela found a nice sun dress.
So a good haul for everyone....
Picture
Angela panicked...."I left my pot back at the cash......I have to go back and get it!"
"Okay, hurry up. We'll get in the car and wait for you."
Sigh..."Kids!!  Next time I'm going by myself."
Picture
"Got it!!"

the Red Sneakers

Several of the kids helped themselves to a pair of the new shoes that had just arrived, and started putting them on....
Picture
Ringo wasn't happy that Nyssa beat him to the red sneakers, and he was stuck with the black ones
Picture
Picture
He had really wanted those red sneakers....
Picture
Aaron, Nyssa and Holly were all happy with their choices....
Picture
But Ringo just couldn't let go of wanting the red sneakers....
Picture
Picture
Aaron and Holly thought he was making far too big a fuss over nothing...
Picture
Picture
But Nyssa felt bad, and decided she wouldn't be able to enjoy them knowing Ringo
wanted them so badly. So she took them off and offered them to him....
Picture
Ringo quickly grabbed the red sneakers, and left - before Nyssa could change her mind....
Picture
Picture
Of course I gave Ringo a little talking to, and made him give the red sneakers back.  It was nice of Nyssa to offer them to him, but it wasn't nice of him to go on and on, and make her feel so guilty about having chosen the red ones first. He might as well get used to the fact that in life we often don't get what we want.

the Big Duck

On the Simcoe Day long weekend, we were in Windsor visiting our daughter, and it just so happened that the World's Biggest Rubber Duck would be in nearby Amherstburg that weekend. So I took Elin and Holly along - after all Elin just loves yellow dickies. it was quite early in the morning , so there were no crowds.     Elin and Holly had brought their own little yellow duckies along...
Picture
Picture
They each posed individually with the big duck....

Then we took some pictures with the baby Duck.....

the Solar Eclipse

August 21st was the big day - the solar eclipse everyone had been waiting for. From where we live, in southern Ontario, the moon would only cover 69% of the sun, but we thought we'd go down to Frenchmen's Bay for a wider view of the sky. Coco came with us.
Picture
There were lots of people there, including some kite boarders, who had beached their kites, because with the dimming sun, all the thermals they needed had disappeared. Jan had made a simple pinhole 'camera' box, and we could clearly (and safely) see the
eclipse.  Coco had some special eclipse glasses, and made himself comfortable...
Picture
At the peak of the eclipse the light was somewhat dimmer, like it usually is in early evening....
