Christmas Elves

I needed some photos of several Christmas Elves for my Fashions book.

St. Nicholas

My Wizard looked so good as a Bishop, that I decided to make him a St. Nicholas 'costume'.
Picture
He already moonlights as Santa Claus on occasion, but there's way more traditional Christmas figures than the American Santa Claus.  There's Father Christmas, Pere Noel, Kris Kringle, Father Frost, and St. Nicholas. Even though in North America all those names are used interchangeably for Santa Claus, they are in truth all individual, unique characters with their own traditions.
Picture
I used the coat from my old Wizard figure that he wears as a Bishop, and made him a beige, lace-edged tunic to wear underneath.  I also added some trim to one side of his miter hat to turn it into a cross. Then I sculpted a staff, but I preferred the one my old art doll St.Nicholas had, so traded them.
Picture
St. Nicholas traditionally arrives with his white horse, on December 5th, from Spain. That evening he rides his horse across the roof tops, while his servants deliver small gifts down the chimneys to all the good children.
Picture
He's also a much older character, dating way back to the twelfth century, so he'll be able to appear in my Medieval Fantasy world in future stories.

A Visit from St. Nicholas

December 6th is St. Nicholas Day, and the children had put out their wooden shoes the night before. They were very surprised when St. Nicholas arrived in person to deliver small gifts and chocolate letters....

Cookie Exchange

The first week of December was Cookie Exchange Week, and some of the kids got together to exchange cookies.
Picture
Some brought cookies they had made themselves, while others brought ones they had purchased.
Picture
...so there was quite an impressive selection.
Picture
They started sorting the cookies they wanted into tins....
Picture
Picture
Picture
Then Angela decided she wanted to taste the ones she was interested in....
Picture
Milo had filled his tin, but Peach was still trying to decide....
Picture
"Have you tried the chocolate chips ones?"
Picture
Picture
Picture
"I think I want to try some of them too."
Picture
"Good idea!"
Picture
So he sat down with his tin of cookies, and began to sample them...
Picture
Peach was really digging in. There were so many wonderful cookies to sample....
Picture
Aaron kept offering Angela the chocolate chip cookies that he had made.
Picture
But she was only interested in the macarons. They were her favourite.
Picture
Picture
Aaron finally sat down and started sampling the cookies too.
Picture
Peach just kept sampling more...
Picture
Picture
After polishing off most of the cookies in his tin, Aaron wasn't feeling so good.
Picture
"Are you okay?"
Picture
"No.  I think I ate way too many cookies."
Picture
"I should have stopped after the first five."
Picture
"Same here."
Picture
"But they all just looked so delicious."

Christmas Candles

It was Christmas morning, and Daisy was lighting all the candles in the castle chapel....
