Elizabeth at the Window

I had my old Elizabeth out to see if her costume would fit on a BJD, and even though it might work on a Narae, her head would look shockingly out of scale, so it's not going to happen.

But then I had the idea to take some photos of Elizabeth in the castle window. She's never been photographed in a setting before.
Of course I needed a more appropriate painting in the background, so printed out one of her father...

This doll was made in 1982. I used an inexpensive porcelain doll kit for the doll itself.  She was Abigail Adams from a set of four First Ladies. I chose her to be Elizabeth because she had red hair in an upswept style. Her gown is based on the Ditchley Portrait.

She won first place at the CNE doll dressing competition that year.

the Ermine Portrait

This costume was originally made way back when I was in the final year of high school.
It was inspired by her gown in the 'Ermine Portrait'.

I spent all of March break beading the skirt.  The dress was originally made on a plastic doll, but years later I removed it and reworked it to fit on another porcelain doll like the other Elizabeth.
She's never had any nice photos taken of her, so I thought she finally deserved some....
