Desert Adventures - Part 1
Heading off on an Adventure
Well, everyone is dressed in their Fantasy costumes, and has had their hair redone. I've decided not to take any
contemporary clothes with me on this trip, which means the dolls can't be photographed with anything
modern or manmade, so we'll see what kinds of photo opportunities present themselves.

Garden of the Gods
One of our favourite places to stop on our journeys out west, is the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.
It's a small public park full of weathered red rock formations, tucked into the eastern slope of the mountains.

We arrived in late afternoon, the sun was low in the west, ready to sink below the mountains, and there
was a fierce wind blowing. So we only took out the dolls with the shortest hair - and Winston.
I managed a couple of group shots, even though Jan had to keep running after Winston, who kept being blown away....

Abo Ruins
One day, the group came across a large ruin at Abo, in the wilderness of Southern New Mexico
"There isn't anyone here. Looks like this place was abandoned a very long time ago..."
the Colorado River
One of our favourite drives in the US Southwest, is the Colorado River Scenic Byway into Moab.
It's a spectacular drive along the River, as it winds it's way southward towards Moab.

After reaching the Moab valley, another road - Potash Road - continues along the banks of the Colorado River as it heads into Canyonlands National Park. Unfortunately, the banks of the river are mostly obscured by a very invasive shrub, so it's difficult
to find any clear views of the river. However, there were some good, open, views at the elevated Gold Bar Group Campground.
Perfect for some doll pictures!

Canyonlands
The gang tries to navigate up a rocky hill in Canyonlands.....
"Do we really have to get this thing all the way up there?"
"Maybe if we all work together? You pull, while Winston pushes..."
"I don't think this is going to work..."
In the end they decided it was too difficult to get the cart up over the rocks, so they went the long way around instead.
