David's Birthday - Part 4
After the Dance
After the dancing, Yvette let Paige play some tunes on her lute.
She had been taking lessons, and was becoming quite accomplished ....
Bianca and Monica chatted over another dessert....
...while Baron and Rex wanted to take a closer look at David's new sword....
"I had it made of a new, special, lightweight metal called aluminum...," said Lawrence
"Perfect for a young knight in training.."
"It's very impressive. You are one lucky boy!"
Becoming Upset
Ringo had been good all evening, knowing it was his big brother's birthday,
and that David should rightfully be everyone's centre of attention...
and that David should rightfully be everyone's centre of attention...
...and that when his own birthday came around, it would be his turn.
But for a little boy watching his big brother grow up, it was very hard. Especially with everyone paying so much attention to that magnificent sword....
Poor Ringo couldn't keep his feelings in any more, and his eyes started to well up....
Lawrence saw that his little son was having a hard time, so took him aside....
"David is going to become a knight..." he cried...
"... and I won't have anyone to play with anymore..."
Another Surprise
Monica was over at the dessert table....
...when she noticed Ringo was all upset...
She knew immediately what was wrong....
"Excuse me. I need to take care of something..."
She and Lawrence had anticipated the situation....
...and had prepared a gift for Ringo as well...
"We have a little something for you as well..."
Everyone turned to look....
"This is for me??"
"Yes, we thought you would really enjoy this, and knew David wouldn't mind if we gave you something on his birthday as well..."
"Why don't you open it..."
A Sword for Ringo
Ringo started to open the package - and like everyone had already guessed - it was a sword!
"Oh, wow!"
Nami turned to Paige, "I knew he was going to love it."
Paige was confused. "But how did you know he was going to get a sword??"
Paige was confused. "But how did you know he was going to get a sword??"
"Because I watched Dad make it. It was our secret."
"Did you really make it for me yourself?"
"Yes, I did. I knew how important it was to you, so wasn't going to get someone else to do it.
Good thing I still know my way around a workshop."
Good thing I still know my way around a workshop."
"It's what I always wanted!! I really love it!"
David held up his sword too, "Now we are both young Knights!"
"You both need to be careful with those!"
"On guard!!"
"I just hope no one puts an eye out!"
Getting Late
It was getting late, and all the thin tapers reserved for fancy functions, had burned down, so Rosie replaced them all with the standard, thicker candles....
Nami and Paige joined Grace for a drink by the keg....
"This is good stuff."
"Well, don't drink too much. You don't want to get drunk!"
"I better not have any more then. But it sure tastes good!"
Ringo's Sword
Ringo was so proud of his new sword, that he had to go show it off....
"This is a really nice sword..."
"I sure would have liked to have had one like this..."
"... when I was your age..."
"It's perfect for going out and slaying dragons."
"But I don't want to slay any dragons..."
"Dragons are my friends...."
Winding Down
It had been a wonderful birthday celebration, but the evening was drawing to a close....
David gave his parents a big hug...
"Thank you so much for such a great birthday!
It was the best one ever!"
It was the best one ever!"
