Winston's Story

If dragons had all been slain into extinction, then Winston wondered how it was that he came to be.

"Well," answered Willie, "The knights may have thought that they had slain all the dragons, and in some regards they had, but there were still dragon eggs hidden about. And dragon eggs can still continue to be viable, even after a hundred years, or more."

"One day, the Lady Miho, came across what at first appeared to be an unusual egg-shaped rock."

"But being a Fairy Queen and a powerful sorceress, with a great respect and curiosity for all things magical, she recognized it for what it was....a dragon egg."

"So she took it home with her, and made a nice warm spot for it beside the fire."

"She had no idea if the dragon embryo inside was still alive, but it might be, so she was determined to make every effort to ensure that it might have every opportunity to actually hatch. So she patiently kept watch over the egg,

".. and would turn it several times daily."

"Time passed slowly, and as the weeks went by she began to sense a life growing inside the egg."

"Then, one day all her efforts and patience paid off, and the egg hatched."

"It was an adorable baby dragon."

"She named you Winston."

"She was like a mother to you,"

"..and raised you to be the wonderful dragon we all know and love today."

Now Winston knows a little more about his origins.

So Miho is Winston's adopted mother. Wait, didn't she adopt Baron also, or am I getting my characters confused? That would mean that they are adopted brothers.

Yes, it explains why Winston is so close to Miho. They found baby Baron several years later, so he grew up with Winston, so they are also very close.

Miho is such a lovely, interesting character! So Winston now knows the wonderful story of how he came to be, and why he and Baron are such close friends.
However, there remain some other questions. Where did Sapphira come from? Are there still any giant Drakos left somewhere in the world?

I'm sure Winston already knew his origin story, how Miho found his egg and raised him, but he may not have been aware why there were no other dragons.

Anyways, I thought this story was the perfect place to share his and Saphira's origin stories (hers is tomorrow). I hadn't originally thought of it until I'd already been down to the beach six times to shoot several more of the various episodes for the Drako story. But then it occurred to me that it would make an interesting side story, since I'd never shared the dragon's origin stories before, and two of the baby dragons were the exact same fabric as their parents, so could stand in for them. So, we had to go down to the beach one more time to take all the photos of the conversation between Winston, Willie and the Wizard, since this storyline wasn't even on my radar the first time I took photos of them down there, and so I needed more photos for the new back stories.

After the story of Winston's origins and birth, we can't wait to know the same thing about Saphira.
But also to know how it is that Winston and Saphira are not giant dragons. What explanation for their size almost equal to that of the "humans" in your story.
Their kindness certainly comes from their education.
