After checking out the iceberg in Bayview, we left New World Island....
...and went exploring up some of the side roads to other remote fishing villages, like Tizzard's Harbour.
There were lupins blooming everywhere...
The next day was overcast and stormy again, as we made our way up the Bonavista peninsula. First stop was the beautiful historic town of Trinity.
...with all its colourful old houses...

It was extremely windy with scattered showers so the dolls never ventured out of the RV, and we moved on, heading further north to the coast...
...and the town of Elliston...
Elliston is considered the Root Capital of the World, and has dozens of root cellars...
I photographed a few...
It's also known for the puffin colony just offshore, but it was so stormy, that even though there were a few hardy people heading out there, we didn't dare venture out onto the narrow trails across the clifftops to the viewing point...
So, we continued on to Cape Bonavista, and arrived at the iconic lighthouse just as the sky started to clear.
Cape Bonavista is also home to a large puffin colony. Puffins spend most of the year out on the open ocean, and just come ashore to nest and raise their young in shallow burrows on the clifftops. It was still so windy that it was difficult to hold my tele-photo lens steady, but I did manage a photo. There were dozens of puffins out there....
Then I took some more photos of the famous lighthouse....
