Running

12/7/2025

One of the training exercises for a Medieval knight to build up strength and endurance, was running - in full armour. It was heavy and unwieldy, but that was the whole point.
Picture
The goal was to eventually be able to run around the entire city wall with ease.

But since it had been a very long time since Baron had actually done anything like that, Rex came along to spot him, and brought his horse along should Baron not be able go on any further, and need to stop.
Picture
They'd only made it halfway around the city walls, when Rex became concerned....
Picture
Baron was looking rather winded....
Picture
"I think that's enough for today." commented Rex. "You need to build up your stamina slowly. We'll try again in a few days, and see how far you get next time."
Picture
Baron was disappointed that he hadn't made it as far as he had hoped, but knew that he needed to ease into some of his training exercises, and that this was enough for today.
Picture
Picture
As a fully seasoned knight he used to be able to leap onto his horse while in full armour, but that wasn't going to happen today either. Still, he managed to get up.
Picture
He hadn't realized just how out of shape he was...
Picture
...but was thankful for his patient friend.
Picture
...knowing that this was just the very beginning....
Picture
..and it was going to take some time to regain his strength, one day at a time.

Take heart, Baron, regaining your stamina will take time. Slow and steady wins the race! Others have said much the same thing before me, ‘He who wants to travel far must take care of his mount’ (Racine in his play Les Plaideurs) or La Fontaine in one of his fables, ‘Patience and length of time do more than force or rage’ (The Lion and the Rat).
With the help of your friend, you will become what you once were.
Have a good day,
Martine

Yes, it will take some time, and lots of dedication.

It's amazing but Baron does looked "fatigued" (smile). It must be the power of suggestion that makes me think this is so. We know that with love and support from family and friends he will be alright..

Yes, he does. It's all in the camera angle.

Baron is blessed with good and caring friends to help him through this difficult portion of his recovery. He is wise as are his friends, so he will recover his full strength in time. Perseverance will need to be his motto in the days and weeks ahead.

Your photos are so realistic that they are suggestive to the point that one almost feels as if one is suffering with him!
