After taking doll photos at Bow Lake, we continued heading north up the Icefields Parkway. My goal was to take as many sets of photos for the story started in 2012, and not in any particular order. So I was keeping my eye open for suitable, uncrowded photo locations. Like the parking lot at Hilda Ridge, just south of the Columbia Icefields.... In the story, the three main characters had come across a lost little native girl. So, they interrupted their quest to go out from camp with the horses to look for the girl's people. It was very cold and windy, and the sky was filled with massive storm clouds, and they'd occasionally get pelted with snow, so it was a good thing that they'd brought along some warm 'bear skins'....

It is interesting to me that the dolls' faces always take on the "spirit" of the narrative. In this episode, the dolls look very serious as they try to help the lost child.

Byuri's costume is based on authentic Northwest Coast Native regalia. In the story her name is Little Beaver, and all the images on her hat, dress and cloak are taken from traditional West Coast art depicting beavers.

Did you make Little Beaver’s outfit? It’s superb and looks so authentic.

Yes, I made it way back in 2012 for the first set of photos taken for this story. If you go to Favourite Photos 2012, and scroll down, she stars in Pacific Princess, and the Journey Home, with her mother (Asa)

The setting is magnificent, and it does look cold and windy! It's good they brought along their "bear skins" to bundle up.

The forecast was calling for 40% chance of precipitation that day, but we chose to go up the Icefields Parkway anyways. It was spectacular, with huge storm clouds everywhere. The sun was peaking out much of the time, and every now and then we'd get a little sprinkle, but Hilda Ridge is higher elevation near the Columbia Icefields, so we'd get ice pellets instead.
