Groundhog Day

2/2/2026

It had been a long, very cold winter, and with it being Groundhog Day, the children went out to find one.
Picture
"So, what's the verdict?  Are we done with this extreme cold and all the snow, or are we still getting another six weeks of winter?"
Picture
"How would I know?  I'm not a groundhog. I'm an otter."
Picture
"Ooops....Sorry about that. Our mistake."
Picture
"So, where can we find a groundhog?"
Picture
Picture
"I don't know."
Picture
"But you do realize that they have no training in actual scientific weather forecasting, so no matter whether he sees his shadow or not, we are still in for at least another eight more weeks of winter."

I love this story! Your child dolls are so beautifully dressed (as I would expect from seeing your other exquisitely adorned dolls.)

Thank you!

I actually started out with the child dolls first, and am trying to go back to just takign fun photos with them as well.

This is too funny! I love that the otter shares his wisdom.

I didn't watch the Groundhog Day Celebration on TV this year. I have watched in the past. The poor little groundhog looked terrified when he was pulled out of his crate. I am sure he would have said anything just to be left alone (smile).

I will have to check the "news" to see what the proclamation determined. I am hoping for warmer weather for sure.

Thanks. Well, I decided to let the otter channel my own opinion on the matter, since I personally don't understand the fuss over a groundhog's 'prediction'. Makes no difference, as winter usually lasts to the end of March here either way.

It's wonderful! I love it!! There is nothing like a cheeky otter 😄.

Thank you! I thought he looked enough like a groundhog for the children to mistake him for one. And I thought he'd have a more realistic view of the situation.

There's no way we are having an early Spring, as we have way too much snow, and there's even more in the forecast. The piles are already so high there's no place left to pile anymore.
