Commissioning a Portrait

2/1/2025

Winston and Saphira wanted to mark their children's first birthday by having a family portrait painted.
Picture
So they went to talk to Narin who was the best artist in the realm. They agreed on a price and made an appointment for their first sitting.

The children were very excited when they arrived at the great hall at the castle, where Narin had set up a temporary studio to work on the King's anniversary portrait
Picture
Narin was all set up and waiting for them.
Picture
"Where do you want us?" asked Saphira.
Picture
"I'll need you to get into a nice group pose over on the dias. You'll need to stand close together so you all fit into the painting."
Picture
"Come on kids!"

"How's this?"
Picture
"Perfect!"
Picture
"Now I'm going to need you all to stay perfectly still."
Picture
And Narin did a quick sketch and started the painting...

The painting was coming along nicely...
Picture
..but it was very slow going.
Picture
after all, one can't rush a masterpiece.
Picture
"I really need you all to stop moving so much."
Picture
"We are doing our best over here!"

The different expressions on the kids are great.

It's hard enough to hold young humans in place for photos that only take a few seconds, but I think it must be almost an impossible mission with young dragons full of life for the time it takes to create a painted masterpiece. Good luck to Narin, as well as to Saphira and Winston!

Martine
It's not easy to keep four young dragon children quiet! Probably no easier than with four young human children.
Courage, Narin, to achieve this wonderful painting that Winston and Saphira want, but you'll succeed because you're an excellent painter.
Have a nice day!
Martine

The little dragons all look so cute and angelic in the first few photos. The propect of a masterpiece seemed promising.... that is until Narin's comment "Now I'm going to need you all to stay perfectly still."...Uh Oh! Four very active little dragons...I don't think so!

You capture so much expression and activity in your photos, it's like being there in the room with them.
