Behind the Scenes

11/11/2024

I take so many photos for several ongoing stories, and in no particular order that I forget what behind-the-scenes shots I've shared. So I'll try catch up.

First the Weeding the Garden last month.  I had already posed the dolls inside so I'd know how I was going to position them, then chose one of the only spots in the backyard that actually looked like it could be an overgrown garden. All the dolls were held in position with my wire poke-in-the-ground stands.

Then I had to get down on the grass to take photos at their level...

But it was also one of the rare times that taking a photo from above worked....

When taking photos it's important to make sure all the details are correct. I was taking photos of Naomi reading out on the patio, and her book kept falling out of her hands. So I didn't notice until afterwards that I had put the book back upside down. Now, in my defence, the front and back covers are very similar, and I don't see details in the dark very well....

But once I noticed, I had to reshoot with the book right side up...

Then I was working on a new story (coming soon) and these two guys, both had roles to play in it, so they were standing together in my workspace. Matias who is a SartoriaJ 51ATH guy was being changed into his knight outfit and still needed his leg armour, and Owen who is an Iplehouse JID, was waiting for me to make him a 'safari' vest. The contrast between the two of them couldn't have been greater, and I was amused thinking of what the two of them could possibly be thinking, so just had to take a photo.

Thank you for showing us Behind The Scenes photos.

I was thinking that Owen is saying to Matias, "when is the filmmaker going to get to my scene in the movie?"

I love that you captured Naomi reading upside down. So now we get to see "Out-takes" as well as Behind The Scenes photos. That is so much fun!

I included the photo of the upside-down book to prove I make mistakes too. Not everything is perfect immediately.

I thought the photo of Matias and Owen was a fun photo, and would say something different to everyone. From my perspective sitting beside them it looked like Matias was giving Owen the 'once over', but was too polite to make any comments on the scrawny guy, who was obviously perfectly comfortable in his own skin.

Anyways, the two of them are the 'bookends' to the story, with Matias at the very beginning, and Owen at the end. And that's all I'll say about that.

Bookends. Hmmm. Okay, now I am even more interested in reading this story (smile).

At first I hadn't noticed Naomi's book was upside down, the cover is ornate and at first glance the upside writing looked like part of the design, but once you know, then that's all you can see 😄.

I can almost hear Owen thinking "that can't really be a knight, a very big knight, in armour, standing behind me.... can it? I'm asleep and this is a dream...isn't it?" Matias on the other hand is probably thinking "Who is this little guy in the funny clothes?"

I'll be looking forward to this story too!

Well, that was the problem. The book is small and very similar on both sides. I figured most people wouldn't even notice. But I would know. So a reshoot was in order.

I thought those two guys together were just too funny. It wasn't worth the trouble of moving Matias' eyes so he'd be side-glancing at Owen, but that would have said even more.
