As everyone was enjoying their spaghetti dinner, Wilbur was feeling a bit left out. Nuri noticed, "You want some too?" Everyone else was too busy eating and engaged in conversation... But Nuri wanted to share with Wilbur and the chickens... Their parents seemed oblivious...

Lily had invited the dragons to come for dinner before leaving on their trip. Saphira and the kids arrived just as Lily was putting a pie out on the windowsill to cool. "It sure looks yummy!" commented Saphira. "It's for dessert." replied Lily. When dinner was ready, Larry and Winston put out the picnic tables, and everyone took a seat. Lily had made a huge pot of spaghetti... It was everyone's favourite...and she dished out large bowls full... "This is delicious, Dear." "It sure is," agreed Winston. "Would you like some more?" offered Lily.
The dragons enjoyed travelling to see the beauty of the world around them, and were trying to decide where they might want to go next... "There's so many places we've not been yet." "I think it would be nice to explore more of our own realm of Canada..." "That's one huge realm." noted Sparkle, as Scorch studied a more regional map... Winston pulled out a map of the far west... "I think we should go here, to the far west in our realm, and explore the mountains. I hear they are spectacular." "Yes!! We'd love to go see some mountains!"
I finally finished the new armour. All the pieces of armour were stitched together, and all the leather straps sewn on through pre-drilled holes. The tiny buckles on the straps are just for show, as it would be way too fiddly to be threading the tiny leather straps through them - plus they wouldn't hold in place - so I faked it by stitching snap fasteners under the buckles as that would be easier to do up, and way more secure... Then, while I was at it, I made Matias a chainmail collar, for the times as a knight that he didn't need his full armour.... The edge needed to be cut into small points to help it flare out better, but it isn't very even. Chainmail is so slinky that it's notoriously difficult to work with, cutting each tiny ring one at a time, and I'm semi-blind and could barely see what I was doing. But then, who will be looking at that anyways?
Last month I finally put together Naomi's long awaited sewing room. As it needed to look like different set from all the other castle interiors, the thing that would define the new space the most would be a brand new wallhanging over the fireplace. It needed to be the same style as all the others, so I chose some warm dull colours, cut squares and stitched them together. Then I added the same black edging, embroidered a chain stitch border, and then hand-painted the silhouettes and flower border. I felt that the wallhanging really helped define the room.... I was having camera issues at the time, and the timer wasn't cooperating, so I shot a scene hand-held with the camera set on Auto (1/80 of a second, f/8, at ISO 2,000) The picture quality was very poor compared to taking photos using a tri-pod with the camera set on 200 ISO and a ten second timer (0.8 second at f/13)
September 30th was International Lace Day, and Naomi was busy in her sewing room... ...sorting through a new shipment of lace which had just arrived... Her friend Bella came by... "These laces are incredible." "What will you be making out of them?" "I don't know yet."
Everyone was so focused on their embroidery, that they hadn't noticed what the two bored little dragons were up to.... They'd discovered the basket of yarn, and were making a huge mess, and getting all tangled up... Saphira and Lily finally noticed. "What are you two doing over there!?!" "Nothing." "It doesn't look like 'nothing' to me." scolded Saphira. "That isn't yours to play around with." continued Saphira, "Now untangle yourselves, and apologize to Lily immediately1" "Yes Mom." said Nuri. "But the thread was so pretty." added Sparkle. "We couldn't resist." Lily couldn't help but smile. "Well then, maybe when you're a little older, I can teach you both to knit."
