Anyway, it's interesting that all five are Special Real Skin, but in three different versions. I've had Lisa the longest, and she's still the old original RS formula with the French resin in it. So she's not nearly as 'pink' as the others. The two BIDs are both the current matte RS, and the two adults are the GLOW RS. When I first ordered isis I had thought there wasn't a lot of difference between the regular RS and the GLOW, but now that there's two of them, I can see that it really is a nicer resin than the standard matte RS.
The first official family portrait of my newest Iplehouse family.... The two smaller kids were in photos with Isis last Christmas, where she was their 'Mom', so I figured they had to be part of the family. And I needed an older KID, so chose Lisa, although I'm not yet decided what her relationship will be, whether she's his daughter, or a younger sister to one of the adults. Not that it really matters. But they are definitly a family.

Just a few more photos of Asa from Monday's photo shoot. I know to some they all look the same, but I like them all and it's hard to choose a favourite....
I had to redress my SID Asa into her default outfit a few days ago, and she just looked so beautiful, that I had to take her out for some fall photos before the leaves disappeared..... There's a little 'Dead End' road in the country just north of us - more like a short extension on a farm driveway, that goes nowhere - and when the trees turn yellow and the leaves cover the gravel roadway in fall, it makes the perfect setting for doll photos. There's no traffic at all, and I can pose the dolls and lay down in the middle of the 'road' to take the photos....
Over on Facebook I had been challenged to post black and white photos of my everyday life for seven days. I thought, just for interest sake, that I'd post them here too. After all, they are a glimpse into my everyday life. Although I did end up with more than just seven photos......
I'm still working on a new sweater for Steve. I had made a really nice one while we were camping, but it ended up being too small. And I even had Owen's sweater along for comparison. Oh well. Must be the different brand of yarn knits up a different size. I can't have Steve in a sweater that's too short in the body and in the sleeves, so I've started a new one. It's the same brand yarn as the sweater set I made for Isis recently, and it's rather stiff to work with. It's interesting how every brand of sock yarn knits up differently, even when the gauge says the same number of stitches for a 10 cm square. The sweater is an interesting mix of autumn colours... I'm also finishing up a 'Harry Potter' scarf for the sweater set I knit for Eric recently. Eric was just another BID who still needed a sweater and hat set, but those are fun to knit. Scarves are especially mindless, for knitting while listening to TV in the evenings. There's still a few more kids who need hats and sweaters too, so I won't be running out of things to knit anytime soon.
I thought I should take some photos of Steve with his brother Owen... Owen's wig suddenly makes him look rather 'bobble-headed'. Maybe I have to make him something better now too.
It's interesting how different their resin colours are. Owen is an older doll, from 2013, in the original Real Skin resin when Iplehouse still used French resin in the formula. It was always a touch on the 'yellow' side. Steve, who is also an 'Owen' sculpt, is in the current Real Skin, which has much redder undertones. I've had my second Iplehouse JID Owen home for ages, and really wasn't sure what I wanted to do with him. He had been given a thick, bushy moustache, so he needed a wig that would go with that. I'd made hard wig caps months ago, before he was even painted, and finally took the plunge today. Actually yesterday, since that's when I sewed the mohair fringes. But today I cut and glued, and cut and glued some more. Making a 'masculine-looking' wig is a HUGE challenge. It probably will still get a bit more fine-tuning, but here he is for now.... This guy was a challenge. He is my second Owen, and I needed him to look completely different, or at least as different as one can get with the exact same sculpt. I had knit him a sweater on our last camping trip, thinking I'd take Isis and her kids, and her new guy on a fall trip with us. But we never went on any trip, and when I did finally take him out of the box and make him some jeans and tried on the sweater, it was too small. Well, it did fit, but rather tight, and the sleeves and length were too short. Which was just another setback. So I started another sweater, but it won't be finished for a while yet. So I got out the tux jacket. As soon as I put it on him, something whispered "Steve". Okay, if that's what you want your name to be. I'd not been able to choose a name, so 'Steve' it will be. So outside we went for his first photos, and Isis came along. I really like his side view... From the front still takes some getting used to, because I can't get my other Owen out of my head. I find that his bushy moustache gives him a definite 'period' look, and I'll bet he'll look great with much longer hair, whenever I get around to making him his Fantasy outfit.
I'm currently in the process of trying to make the Toad Wedding albums in Favourite Photos 2017. At first I had divided the photos into two albums, knowing there were way too many for just one. But it turns out that there's so many that now I'm going to divide them into thirds; A Toad Wedding; Formal Photos & Reception; and A Toad Honeymoon. There were still some photos that had never been precessed yet, and I came across these two 'behind the scenes' shots that were taken during the set up for the formal wedding photos. The patio table was positioned strategicly down on the grass with hanging baskets propped up behind for the 'garden' setting. The benches are positioned around the table so I have a place to put trays of dolls and props, plus it's a place to sit to take the photos. The sheet of white foam core leaning against the table is for bouncing light onto the dolls - especially the two Kaye Wiggs girls.... The basket on the yellow tray is where all the little critters get stored. None of them stand all that well on their own, so I lined that small basket in order to have a way to display them on a shelf... This was such a fun project, that totally took on a life of it's own. I had originally envisioned just a simple wedding with a few pictures, but instead it turned into month long photo event with over a hundred and fifty final photos. But then, as they say, "you get out of it what you put into it".
It was time to bring my plants in for the winter, so that meant heavy pruning of my fuchsias that were in full bloom, and removing the flowers off of all the geranium cuttings. The girls thought the flowers were too nice to just throw on the compost pile, so they made bouquets out of some of them.... Layla, and her bouquet.... Kayla (SK Layla elf) and her bouquet...
The three Corduroy Dresses are up for sale. They are one piece dresses, made to resemble a jumper over a white blouse. I'm also offering the last Peach Party dress I held back last year.... *Click on images below for more information.... ALL SOLD! |
