The circus was in town, and the kids flocked to the side show, to see the snake charmer.... She had a huge python draped around her neck... "This is Frank. He may look scary, but he's really rather harmless. Would any of you like to hold him?" 'Definitely not me!' thought Holly. "Looks like we have a volunteer." The other kids stared in amazement as she draped the snake across Bordy's shoulders But Holly was horrified. "So, what do you think?" "He actually feels kind of nice." "Anyone else want a turn?"
It was time for the annual snake migration, so Gino, Nolan, and Otto, went out to meet them... ...and make sure they didn't come through their village and scare the children. "It's nice to see you again," said Nolan, "...but, like usual, we'd like you to take a small detour to the west around our village."
We've put together two new calendars for 2025! I personally wanted two calendars myself, so chose 26 of my favourite doll photos, both older and newer ones that I'd enjoy looking at for an entire month. Both calendars include a mix of themes. I had made a folder with all my favourite photos throughout the years, and chose my favourite 13 for the first calendar. The photos primarily feature my Fashion sized dolls, and a few other MSDs, in a wide variety of different scenes from stories throughout the years; three contemporary, some historical, and the rest Medieval Fantasy. Three of the photos include OOAK art dolls. Stories CalendarFantasies Calendar The second calendar features a wider range of subjects including my smaller dolls, House Elves, Forest Dwellers, and dragons.... The calendars are 12" square, spiral bound, and printed on high quality paper. We were very impressed by the quality last year. PricesThe calendars will cost $25. US each ShippingLast year I had several people who I'd ordered calendars for, bail on me, upset after learning what the shipping options were. Unfortunately Canada Post does not offer a book rate. The prices are what they are, and I have no control over them. So, this time I'm giving a shipping estimate up front (although prices may go up or down if there's a major change in the exchange rate) Anywhere in the lower 48 USA shipping with tracking and insurance would be around $20. US. A few dollars less if you choose not to take tracking. The rate stays the same even if two calendars are shipped at the same time. Shipping within Canada is a different story, and all depends on location, although tracking is automatically included. Shipping costs range from around $13.US to $17.US, and goes up a few dollars with insurance. It also increases a few more dollars when two calendars are shipped together. Pre-OrderIf you would like to reserve a calendar (or two) please send me an email at - [email protected] *It's important to send me an actual email (not just respond here on my Blog) as I will need your email address in order to contact you when the calendars arrive.
*All the calendar information has also been added to the Book & Calendar page (at the top in the header) so you won't have to go scrolling looking for this Blog post in the future. The family outhouse was undergoing some renovations, and the door had been taken off so it would be easier to paint. But Avery needed to go, and couldn't wait, so he hoped no one else would be passing by. But after he did his business, the roll of toilet paper was empty. What to do?? Finally, desperation overcame his embarrassment, and he called out for some help. His sister Emily heard his calls for help, and went to fetch him some toilet paper. "Here you go..." "Thanks!'
Yesterday (August 26) was National Toilet Paper Day, so Erzulie and Efreet headed over to the store to stock up... Now, I've taken a lot of photos featuring toilet paper over the years..... And who can forget that whole series about toilet paper at the start of Covid? Click to revisit the entire series - the Toilet Paper Chronicles
While everyone else was looking at the sewing machine... Daniel was still enthralled by the spools of colourful thread. He was a bright, quiet little boy, but he'd gotten up way too early. Baron noticed him sitting by himself... ...and picked him up. "You look very tired." Daniel laid his head on his Dad's shoulder... as he went to join the others. Naomi noticed her son. "You look so tired." "You were up awfully early this morning. Maybe you need to go for a little nap." But Miho wanted to hold him. "There, that's better, isn't it?" Naomi smiled.... "Yes, who wants to take a nap when your favourite grandparents are here?"
Later that morning Miho and Dominic came by to wish Naomi a happy birthday, and she wanted to show them her sewing machine... Miho was especially interested, since she'd been instrumental in helping Baron to get it. "So this is what Baron went looking for?" "Yes. And I was lucky to find everything I was looking for in just one shop." "It was interesting trying to pass myself off as a Victorian gentleman. And I think the poor shopkeeper was in shock when she added up all my purchases." Dominic was very interested... as Naomi explained how the sewing machine worked.... ..and how it would make sewing anything so much faster and easier.
Naomi could barely believe that Baron had gotten her a brand new Victorian sewing machine. "It's gorgeous!" She had to sit down and take a closer look... "This is so wonderful!" "I also picked up lots of extra needles, and some spare parts as back up, just in case." "I can hardly believe it. You thought of everything!" Daniel was totally enthralled by all the spools of colourful thread....and handed his Mother one... "Thank you, Love." "This is so beyond anything I would have ever expected." "You are amazing! I love you so much!"
Naomi was very surprised, and could barely believe her eyes. "It's an antique Victorian sewing machine!" "Actually, it's not an antique. It's brand new." "What do you mean it's 'brand new'? How is that even possible?" "Well, remember when I had to go away for a few days last week? I was actually taking a little trip to the future to Victorian times, to find all these things for you." Baron lifted the cover. "I knew how much you've missed your sewing machines, especially now that you have to do everything by hand..." "So I thought I'd surprise you with one that would work here in this time and place." "It was their brand new, top of the line sewing machine." "It's perfect! I love it! Thank you!" "I can't believe that you went to all that trouble just for me." "I'd do anything for you."
Baron covered Naomi's eyes as he led her to the table where he'd moved the sewing machine. "No peeking!" "Okay. You can look now." Naomi was speechless....
